Comedy streamer Dropout launches new Superfan tier

Comedy streamer Dropout launches new Superfan tier

This new plan will offer great perks, behind-the-scenes content, and more.

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.
The comedy streamer Dropout has launched a new plan to let customers support the service with their wallets.

Sam Reich’s comedy streaming service Dropout is giving fans just what they have been asking for: a way to spend more money. That may sound sarcastic, but according to Reich, it’s more-or-less the truth; Dropout customers have literally been asking for ways to support the streamer with their wallets, and now they’ve got a way. Droupout has announced a new Superfan tier that nearly doubles the price of a standard Dropout subscription, which comes complete with exclusive perks.

Key Details:

  • Big price jump: The Superfan tier of Dropout costs $130 per year, but has a special introductory offer.
  • Bonus content and more: Superfan subscribers get behind-the-scenes looks and other bonus content.
  • Sharing-friendly: Password sharing is still an accepted practice on Dropout.

Dropout CEO Sam Reich — who also hosts the show “Game Changer” on the service — dropped a video explaining the launch of the Superfan tier, the reason for its existence, and the perks that come along with choosing it over the standard subscription.

As Reich explains, customers who were existing subscribers when Dropout announced it was raising its subscription cost from $6 per month to $7 for new subscribers in April responded in an unexpected way. He said that they reached out to express that they, too, wanted to pay the higher price in order to support Dropout’s future.

The Superfan membership is the response to that call from fans, and will go toward helping Dropout manage rising content costs and bring new titles to viewers as well. It costs $130 per year — almost double the cost of a $70 standard subscription. The Superfan tier will come with behind-the-scenes content and bits that previously ended up on the cutting room floor, promising even more laughter for fans of the comedy streamer.

The Superfan plan will also include access to exclusive products, the ability to buy select retired Pins of the Month, collectibles, and a 10% discount on almost everything in the Dropout store. In addition, Superfan subscribers will get early access to buy tickets to live events put on by the Dropout crew.

There’s no monthly subscription to the Superfan tier yet, but Dropout subscribers can pool their resources and split a subscription with friends. Dropout is still friendly to the practice of sharing passwords among multiple households, so if you want to go in on a subscription to the service with others, you can do so with ease and alleviate some of the cost concerns.

Dropout is also offering a special introductory offer on the Superfan subscription: $97.49 for your first year of service, before the rate reverts to the $130 standard annual cost.

Dropout

Dropout is a subscription-based streaming service from the team behind CollegeHumor, focused on original, ad-free comedy content. It features a growing library of unscripted shows, including fan favorites like “Game Changer,” “Dimension 20,” “Very Important People,” and “Make Some Noise,” along with a mix of improv, tabletop storytelling, panel games, and experimental comedy formats.

…

Rather than traditional sitcoms or licensed films, Dropout centers on creator-driven series built around recurring casts of comedians and performers. Its programming emphasizes long-form improvisation, collaborative storytelling, and game-show-style formats that blur the line between performance and play.

The service operates on a subscription model and is available worldwide through its website and apps on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, smart TVs, iOS, Android, and web browsers. All content is ad-free and included with a single membership, with optional higher tiers that provide perks like merch discounts and early access to events.

With its tight-knit creative community and consistently evolving slate of shows, Dropout has become a standout destination for fans of modern sketch, improv, and actual-play comedy content. The service also hosts 1,500 classic CollegeHumor videos.
