Curiosity University joins The Roku Channel as add-on option
Fans of educational streaming content can now add a Curiosity University subscription through The Roku Channel.
The Roku Channel is incredibly useful, and not only be because it offers hundreds of free streaming channels in essentially every genre. It also allows you to add any one of more than 55 premium streaming subscriptions to your account, helping you keep track of your bills by keeping them all in one place. Now, users of The Roku Channel can add another service to that list: Curiosity University.
Key Details:
- Curiosity University is available for $9 per month or $90 per year.
- The service comes with a wide range of lectures and other educational material.
- Curiosity University is also available to add through Prime Video.
Curiosity University was formerly called One Day University, and carries a huge selection of lectures from Pulitzer Prize-winning authors, department chairs at some of the world’s most prestigious universities, and much more, including podcasts and a weekly newsletter.
“Partnering with Roku is a pivotal step in Curiosity’s commitment to making learning a lifelong journey for everyone,” Curiosity VP Jay Sodha said. “Roku’s extensive reach and commitment to innovation make it the perfect platform for Curiosity University to amplify its reach and continue to connect with curious minds around the world.”
Curiosity University comes from the same company that offers Curiosity Stream, which is also available on The Roku Channel. A subscription to Curiosity University will cost you $9 per month, or $90 per year if you prefer an annual plan. Curiosity University differs from Curiosity Stream in that it offers more lecture-based content, as opposed to the lineup of documentaries you’ll find with a Curiosity Stream subscription.
Viewers can also sign up for Curiosity University through other aggregation platforms like Prime Video. Subscribing to the service via this method allows customers to better keep track of their subscriptions by having bills all on one platform, instead of scattered around different sources.
Roku Channel
The Roku Channel is a free, ad-supported streaming service that offers a broad mix of movies, TV shows, live linear channels, and original programming. Available to all viewers — not just Roku device owners — the service features licensed content from major studios alongside Roku Originals, which include exclusive series, movies, and specials previously produced for Quibi, as well as new original projects developed specifically for the platform.
