David Beckham and More Masters Coverage Coming to Paramount+
The new sports additions on Paramount+ are highlighted by Beckham’s ‘ManningCast’-style presentation.
Paramount+ already carries one of the hottest sports properties of all with its presentations of NFL games on Sunday afternoons, but that doesn’t mean the service is resting on its laurels. This week, Paramount+ announced it was making some major additions to its sports lineup, including an alternative broadcast for select UEFA Champions League games that will be led by David Beckham, as well as an expansion of its annual coverage of the Masters golf tournament.
Key Details:
- Beckham will bring the “Beckham & Friends” alt cast to Paramount+ starting with Leg 2 of this year’s UCL semifinals.
- The deal between Beckham and Paramount includes exclusive alt casts in 2025 and 2026.
- Paramount+ will add two hours of coverage on both Saturday and Sunday to its Masters broadcasts starting in 2025.
Beckham appeared on CBS Sports’ “UEFA Champions League Today” show on Tuesday to announce a new distribution deal between himself and Paramount which will allow his “Beckham & Friends” alt cast to be shown on Paramount+.
“I like watching the game a certain way” in a communal setting, Beckham said. “So it’s going to be that kind of thing, where I’m sat there watching the games, commenting on the games with friends, talking about the games and not sometimes talking about the games.”
The show will be available for UEFA Champions League Semifinal Leg 2 matches, as well as the league’s Final match next spring. Beckham will return to Paramount+ for more exclusive alt casts in 2025 and 2026. Customers can stream every game of the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League season until Beckham makes his entrance on the streamer with a Paramount+ subscription.
Stream More Masters Coverage on Paramount+
In addition to new alt casts from Beckham, Paramount+ is expanding its coverage of the Masters golf tournament starting in 2025. On Tuesday, CBS and the Augusta National Golf Club announced that on Saturday, April 12, and Sunday, April 13, Paramount+ would begin offering exclusive coverage of the Masters from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. ET.
“The Masters Tournament has had the great fortune of enjoying an extraordinary relationship with CBS Sports for nearly 70 years,” said Fred Ridley, chairman of Augusta National. “Alongside our friends at the network, we are pleased to extend the Tournament’s weekend coverage and ultimately deliver more live golf for Masters fans.”
CBS will offer an additional hour of coverage during the tournament’s third round on Saturday, raising the network’s total of Masters coverage to 14 hours throughout the weekend when combined with Paramount+’s exclusive coverage.
There could be big changes ahead for Paramount Global as the company prepares to begin its two-step merger with Skydance Media. But its commitment to live sports on Paramount+ is clear, as the deals to expand Masters coverage and introduce a new alt-cast for UEFA Champions League games featuring David Beckham to point to.
