The Muppet Show is bringing a new special to Disney+ and ABC.

It’s hard to keep a good Muppet down. Despite premiering way back in 1976, “The Muppet Show” and its indefatigable felt stars aren’t ready to throw in the towel! “The Muppet Show” returns with a brand-new special on Disney+ and ABC in 2026, and we’ve got details about what you can expect to see — including the newly released teaser for the show!

Everything you need to know about ‘The Muppet Show’

When does ‘The Muppet Show’ premiere?

The new ‘Muppet Show’ special will be available on ABC and Disney+ on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 9 p.m. ET.

As of now, this is being billed as nothing more than a special, but it has been widely reported that Disney is looking at it as a potential backdoor pilot to see how this creative team’s vision of the Muppets lands with a 2026 audience.

So, if the special turns out to be a success, there will likely be more from Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, and the gang in the future.

Can you watch ‘The Muppet Show’ for free?

There won’t be any way to watch “The Muppet Show” for free on Disney+, since that streamer does not offer a free trial to new or returning customers. However, viewers who are willing to watch the special on ABC can do so using free trials to DIRECTV, Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, or YouTube TV if they are new customers to these services.
