Disney+ Adding 4 New Around-the-Clock ‘Streams’ Featuring Top Titles
Disney+ Adding 4 New Around-the-Clock ‘Streams’ Featuring Top Titles
Streams on Disney+ allow viewers to lean back and watch a preselected lineup of shows rather than be forced to pick a new episode for themselves.
When you log into a streaming service, do you suddenly become paralyzed by the overwhelming number of titles to choose from? Well, Disney+ is aiming to help with that. On Monday, the streamer continued rolling out around-the-clock streaming channels for subscribers who don’t want to have to deal with deciding what to watch. These channels offer continuous feeds of select titles found in the on-demand library of Disney+, streaming 24 hours a day so viewers never have to try to sort through the expansive catalog and pick what they’ll watch next. The channels first launched in early September, and this week Disney+ has announced that it is adding four new options to the lineup.
Key Details:
- Disney+ is rolling out the “Hallowstream,” “Hits & Heroes,” “Throwbacks,” and “Real Life” continuous streams on Monday.
- The channels join the ABC News and Disney+ Playtime streams that launched in early September.
- Disney says the original two streams have seen over 10 million hours watched so far.

Disney says that it will roll out four new “Streams” for subscribers on Monday. Like the two channels that were launched in early September, they’ll initially be made available only to ad-free Disney+ Premium subscribers, either with standalone subscriptions or as part of the Disney Bundle.
As promised in early August, each of the new channels follows a specific theme. Streams making their way to Disney+ customers include:
- “Hallowstream:” A collection of seasonally-themed Halloween content from across the Disney+ catalog.
- “Hits & Heroes:” A lineup of titles from the biggest franchises under the Disney umbrella, including Marvel and Star Wars.
- “Throwbacks:” A destination for the hits of yesteryear, a great way to scratch that itch for nostalgic pop culture.
- “Real Life:” A mix of traditional documentaries, biopics, and other true stories.
These four new Streams join the ABC News channel, which offers live updates on the biggest news stories every day; and the Disney+ Playtime channel, which features content for younger viewers such as episodes of “Bluey,” “The Lion Guard,” and other shows.
The new Streams appear to be a pure engagement play for Disney+, and the plan seems to be working. In announcing the new channels debuting Monday, Disney said that the ABC News and Disney+ Playtime Streams had already drawn 10 million hours of viewing. In addition, they’ve led to “early signs of overall engagement lift” from the customers who watch them.
Disney+ Streams are available to all Premium subscribers in the United States. Content ratings for the Streams vary by channel; Disney+ Playtime will only feature programming with the highest content rating of TV-G, making it the best choice for families with young kids.
