Four Fortnite-themed ‘Simpsons’ shorts headed to Disney+

Four Fortnite-themed ‘Simpsons’ shorts headed to Disney+

The streamer will be the exclusive home of these shorts as part of its collaboration with the popular battle royale game.

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.

“The Simpsons” has seen more cultural fads come and go in its day than most shows, for the simple reason that it’s been on TV for nearly 40 years. But that doesn’t mean the show is shy about taking advantage of the popularity of another media property at a given moment in time; on the contrary, the show has announced a new partnership with the battle royale video game Fortnite, which will bring exclusive content from the collaboration to the Disney+ streaming service.

Key Details:

  • Short-nite: Four Fortnite-themed “Simpsons” shorts will stream on Disney+ this fall.
  • Watch now: The first of these shorts is available to stream now.
  • Fight to the finish: Fortnite players will see “Simpsons”-themed map updates and much more this season.

There are a total of four Fortnite-themed “Simpsons” shorts set to arrive on Disney+ before the end of the year. These shorts will also be available on social media and will be released within the game itself. The shorts will also be tied into the gameplay experience, as each one will signal a change within the game.

The first short — “Apocalypse D’Oh” — became available to stream on Nov. 1. The rest of the shorts will arrive on Mondays in November, rolling out once per week; “Sugar High” will premiere on Nov. 10; “Multiplidiocy” on Nov. 17; and “The Incredible Bulk” on Nov. 24.

Most of the other facets of this partnership will be most evident when players log into Fortnite and charge through the streets of Springfield itself. New gameplay and map updates will keep players guessing through the event, particularly since a shard of the Zero Point has ended up in Homer’s hands.

“The Simpsons” has been a collaboration tool for Disney in the past; in 2024, for example, Disney+ presented a special “Simpsons”-themed broadcast of an NFL game, with animated characters from the show standing in for players on a digitally-created field. Now, Fortnite players will have the chance to explore Springfield — and watch “Simpsons” shorts based on the game — thanks to the new partnership between the two.
