What kind of parental controls can you use with Frndly TV?

What kind of parental controls can you use with Frndly TV?

Frndly TV has a great lineup of content that’s appropriate for all ages, but can you add more protection for kids with parental controls?

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.

Frndly TV is already one of the top streaming services for families with kids that don’t want to spend a ton of money on entertainment every month. The streamer has channels like Great American Family, Hallmark Channel, and Lifetime, and others that try to keep their schedules stocked with content that everyone in the family can enjoy.

But even so, there are occasionally programs that viewers probably don’t want kids watching unattended on Frndly TV. Does it come with any parental controls to allow parents to keep kids from watching TV shows and movies they don’t want them to see?

What you need to know about parental controls on Frndly TV

Does Frndly TV have any parental controls?

No, Frndly TV does not allow you to set up any parental controls, such as content ratings exclusions. Such controls can be a little more hit or miss on live TV streaming services than they are with on-demand services, but there are plenty of bigger streamers that let parents lock out content with specific ratings.

That makes it much easier to ensure kids who watch channel packages with lots of networks don’t see anything they aren’t ready for yet. Many streaming services also offer PIN codes that require a user to enter a specific numerical sequence in order to unlock a title or channel for streaming.

Frndly TV doesn’t have these types of controls established at the moment, so make sure that if you have a Frndly TV subscription that you take advantage of parental controls on your device, or that you are allowing the kids to watch exclusively while you’re in the room. As mentioned, at least Frndly TV makes a concerted effort to carry a few channels that offer a large selection of content that is too explicit for kids.

Will Frndly TV add parental controls in the future?

It’s hard to say for sure, but there could be any number of changes that are in store for Frndly TV now that it’s under new ownership. Roku purchased Frndly TV in May 2025, and now that Roku is in charge, it can do essentially whatever it wants. It hasn’t made any major changes to Frndly TV yet, but additional features like parental controls could make their way to the service in the future.
