When is ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 coming out?

Season 2 of “The Last of Us” doesn’t have a precise release date quite yet, but as the trailer above shows, it will be released during the month of April 2025. Almost certainly, episodes of the series will be released on Sundays.

Which characters are appearing in Season 2 of ‘The Last of Us’?

Pedro Pascal will return as Joel in Season 2 of “The Last of Us,” and Bella Ramsey reprises the role of Ellie. Jeffrey Wright will appear as Isaac Dixon, a militia leader, and Catherine O’Hara will appear as a therapist-adjacent figure who is helping Joel explore the choices of his past.

Gabriel Luna also returns in Season 2 as Tommy, alongside Rutina Wesley as Maria. New arrivals other than Wright and O’Hara include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, and Danny Ramirez as Manny.

“The Last of Us” Season 1 takes place 20 years into a pandemic that has decimated humankind. A fungal infection that transforms its hosts into zombie-like creatures has spread like fire across the globe, but one teenager named Ellie is discovered to have a natural immunity to the disease.

Joel (Pascal) is still haunted by the loss of his family but is tasked with bringing this teen across the former United States. They arrive at their destination, but when Joel realizes that Ellie’s life is to be sacrificed in order to potentially develop a cure for the infection, he kills all who stand in his way to rescue her.

Five years after his decision not to allow Ellie to be killed, Joel is tormented by the thought that he prevented a cure from reaching humanity. Now, he and Ellie will be drawn into a conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.
