Murder mystery comedies? Yeah, that’s my kind of show. If you’re like me and can’t get enough of whodunits with a side of laughs, you probably already know I’ve rounded up some of the best in the genre - check out the article here. Now, The CW is jumping into the mix with “Good Cop/Bad Cop,” a fresh take on the crime procedural with a comedic sibling twist. The show follows Lou (Leighton Meester) and Henry (Luke Cook), two detectives in a small Pacific Northwest town, trying to crack cases while dealing with quirky locals, a tight budget, and their tough-as-nails father/boss, played by Clancy Brown. It’s got small-town crime, family drama, and plenty of humor - all the necessary ingredients for a fun, fast-paced mystery series. Here’s everything you need to know about “Good Cop/Bad Cop.”
Everything you need to know about ‘Good Cop/Bad Cop’:
What is ‘Good Cop/Bad Cop’ about?
“Good Cop/Bad Cop” is The CW’s newest procedural crime dramedy, premiering Wednesday, Feb. 19. Based on the trailer, the show follows Lou (Leighton Meester) and Henry (Luke Cook), a brother-and-sister detective duo who couldn’t be more different. Lou is all about following the rules, while Henry takes a more… let’s say, flexible approach (including insulting a key witness immediately – it’s funny). But with their larger-than-life father, Police Chief Big Hank (Clancy Brown), keeping a watchful eye, the two have no choice but to work together to solve crimes in their quirky Pacific Northwest town.
The show mixes small-town charm with big cases, balancing lighter moments with real stakes. Because it’s being described as a procedural, it’s very likely that each episode will follow a new investigation, from missing-person cases to high-stakes crimes. But at its core, it’s about the complicated sibling relationship at the heart of it all. Lou and Henry’s constant bickering hides a deep loyalty, and while their different styles might drive each other crazy, they make one hell of a team when it counts. Expect plenty of humor, mystery, and offbeat characters as “Good Cop/Bad Cop” puts its own spin on the classic detective formula.
Good Cop/Bad Cop
An odd couple sister and brother detective team in a small Pacific Northwest police force must contend with colorful residents, a serious lack of resources, and their very complicated dynamic with each other and with their police chief, Big Hank who happens to be their father.
