AMC+ should add more filtering options to help navigate library

The streamer should give viewers more ways to view its library when browsing its app.

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.
AMC+ does not offer the ability to create multiple user profiles.

If there’s one thing that AMC+ does best, it’s keeping prices low. Although the streamer recently raised its rates, it still has one of the lowest starting prices of any on-demand service, beginning at just $8 per month.

One of the ways AMC+ keeps its prices so low is by offering a somewhat barebones app experience. There are no premium audio or visual formats like 4K or Dolby Atmos available on the service, and its user interface keeps things simple — too simple in a few areas. AMC+ should strongly consider overhauling its user experience to give customers more options and filters to click on while browsing, which would simplify the customer experience and likely lead to increased engagement.

For a budget-friendly streaming service, AMC+ offers a great selection of content. Not only are AMC originals available to stream on-demand alongside a large library of movies, but AMC+ also provides content from BBC America, IFC Films Unlimited, Shudder, and Sundance Now, all with one subscription.

The trouble is, viewers have to do a little scrolling or typing with their remote to find this content. There are TV and movie collections dedicated to titles from Shudder and other services on the AMC+ home page, but when I reviewed the streamer’s app in August, I had to scroll pretty far down the home page to find them. It would be far easier if AMC+ put tabs containing content from its partner streaming services at the top of the screen, allowing customers to focus on their chosen experience with fewer remote taps.

It would also help viewers when browsing the AMC+ interface to be able to filter by TV shows or movies more quickly. Most streamers have these two video types separated into different menus, but AMC+ doesn’t currently give subscribers a way to view just by series or film unless they first click the Explore tab. Why not move the Series and Movies tabs to the left-hand menu, giving subscribers one less layer of interface to move through?

I think making these changes would help AMC highlight the availability of the multiple brands it offers on its flagship streamer far more effectively. That could lead to much higher levels of engagement from users, if for no other reason than it would make the AMC+ app a lot easier to use.

AMC+ will always try to maintain a balance of price and features that furthers its reputation as budget-friendly. But the next time the streamer updates its user interface, I think adding more navigation options, like dedicated tabs for other AMC streaming content at the top of the screen, as well as TV and movie pages in the left-hand menu, would help the AMC+ app vastly improve its user experience.

AMC+

AMC+ is a premium subscription streaming bundle owned by AMC Networks. It offers curated access to award-winning originals, indie films, and prestige television. Launched in June 2020, the service combines content from AMC with flagship brands such as BBC America, IFC, Sundance TV, Shudder, Sundance Now, and IFC Films Unlimited, delivering a rich library of exclusive programming and early episode access.

…

AMC+ features exclusive original series like “Gangs of London,” “Ragdoll,” “Firebite,” “Anne Boleyn,” and “Kin,” along with critically acclaimed films and simulcasted favorites such as those from The Walking Dead universe. The service supports up to five simultaneous streams and includes access to six live channels — including AMC, BBC America, and The Walking Dead Channel — alongside on-demand content. It also allows for offline downloads for ad-free subscribers.

The service is available directly via amcplus.com or the AMC+ app on platforms such as Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, iOS, Android, and smart TVs. It’s also accessible through Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video Channels, The Roku Channel, Sling TV, Dish, and YouTube TV. However, free trial eligibility and app access may vary depending on the provider. Viewers can sign up for a 7-day free trial when subscribing directly through AMC+ or its app, though eligibility may vary depending on the platform.

With its depth of high-quality content, flexible pricing, and seamless streaming capabilities, AMC+ remains a top-tier choice for horror fans, prestige dramas, indie films, and compelling originals.
