Fox and Hulu renew content partnership for multiple years brining more unscripted shows
Hulu will continue to be the next-day streaming partner of Fox primetime shows, as well as to stream out-of-season episodes of some reality titles.
Even though Fox hasn’t owned a stake in Hulu for five years now, the two entities are very important to one another. One Fox executive called the relationship between the two “symbiotic” early last year and that relationship will continue to deepen. On Thursday, Fox and Hulu announced that they had renewed their content partnership deal for multiple years to come.
Key Details:
- Hulu will continue to hold in-season streaming rights for scripted Fox shows.
- Additionally, select unscripted series will continue showing out-of-season episodes on the streamer.
- The marketing deal first established between the two in 2023 has also been extended.
The new deal extension announced by Hulu and Fox on Thursday means that the service will continue to be responsible for offering next-day streams of Fox’s primetime slate. New episodes of shows like “Bob's Burgers,” “The Masked Singer,” “The Simpsons,” and many more will continue to stream on Hulu the day after they air on Fox.
In addition, the deal will continue to make episodes of select out-of-season, unscripted shows from Fox available on Hulu. In short, a huge range of the programming that makes the Fox network so popular will remain on Hulu, justifying Hulu + Live TV’s position as our experts' pick to stream Fox via a live TV streaming.
“Our friends at Hulu and Disney Entertainment are exceptional partners, together driving ongoing mutual growth and strong results,” Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade said. “Through our new agreement, we look forward to expanding on this impressive track record and collaboratively shaping the future of television in today’s shifting media landscape.”
The newly-agreed-to deal also extends the 2023 agreement between the two that assures Fox and Hulu branding are both shown when Fox advertises its shows on its linear network, letting fans know that they’ll be streaming the next day on Hulu.
“The long-standing, valued partnership we have with FOX has cemented Hulu as the next day streaming home for current FOX hits and out of season episodes of key FOX titles, and we’re excited to continue offering these scripted, unscripted and animated series to our subscribers,” Hulu GM Lauren Tempest said. “Our collective marketing efforts, which will continue with this new deal, have generated impressive results and helped viewers successfully find the shows they want to watch, when they want to watch them.”
Fox’s programming is a key part of the Hulu library, as are its next-day streams from channels like ABC and FX. The wide range of TV series sourced from Fox will be staying on Hulu as it continues to evolve in the coming years, thanks to the new deal between the streaming service and Fox.
