Fox Nation to welcome first sports programming with PBR Fridays
The conservative-leaning lifestyle and entertainment platform will become the exclusive streaming partner of the PBR’s Camping World Team Series.
Fox isn’t waiting for the launch of its forthcoming Fox One service to add live sports to its streaming lineup. The company announced on Tuesday that it had made a deal with the Professional Bull Riders Association to bring live PBR events to Fox Nation starting this summer, making it the first sports programming to air on the company’s conservative-leaning lifestyle and entertainment platform.
Key Details:
- Ride ‘em cowboy!: “PBR Friday Night Live” starts streaming on Fox Nation in August.
- Cross-promotion: A new season of “Last Cowboy Standing” will help promote the launch of PBR events.
- Looking abroad: Netflix has told staff it wants to add more customers in international markets.
Per the deal, Fox Nation will begin streaming “PBR Friday Night Live” starting Friday, Aug. 8, with the weekly events airing through Friday, Oct. 24. Fox Nation will be the exclusive streaming partner of the Camping World Team Series, the first live sports events available on the streaming service.
“We could not ask for a better partner to kick off our first foray into live sports,” Fox Nation president Laura Petterson said. “PBR is an incredibly unique sport with an unrivaled, passionate fan base, and it’s a great addition to the entire FOX Nation viewer experience.”
To help promote the launch of live PBR events on Fox Nation, the streamer is releasing the second season of its series “Last Cowboy Standing” on Friday, July 11. The show follows eight amateur bull riders who compete for the chance to join a PBR team, with behind-the-scenes access to the competition.
“We’re thrilled to build on our strong partnership with Fox Nation to deliver live coverage of Friday Night Teams and the second season of ‘Last Cowboy Standing,’” PBR CEO Sean Gleason said. “Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo was a breakout hit in May for Fox Nation, proving that their devoted audience is eager for exciting Western sports content. The Fox platform is a perfect stage to showcase our athletes’ stories of grit, courage, and determination.”
This new foray into sports streaming by Fox is just a preview of things to come. Ahead of the 2025 football season, Fox will launch a new streamer called Fox One. This service will carry a wide range of sporting content found on channels like Fox and FS1, including NFL and college football games. Until then, however, fans can tide themselves over with some bull riding action on Fox Nation!
