Fubo announces major upgrade to mobile app
Fubo will offer Team Channels content in vertical video formats in the new update; find out what else will change below.
Sports fans know how important it is to have the latest news and updates about their favorite teams sent directly to their phones. Game-breaking scores on the field are just as important as roster-building trades off it, so staying connected is a must. Fubo sees the lengths that fans go to in order to stay current about their most-watched teams and leagues, and a new upgrade to its mobile app should help them do just that.
Key Details:
- Check your phone: Fubo is rolling out an upgrade for its Android and iOS mobile apps.
- Team Channels scroll: Fans will now be able to scroll through content from Team Channels vertically.
- Yes, there’s AI: Fubo’s AI tech will identify and send breaking news alerts to viewers based on their preferences.
Fubo’s newly upgraded mobile app will greet subscribers with live, in-line video carousels as soon as they open it on their phone. This new auto-play feature will help viewers jump right into the game or discover other content more quickly when using the app, according to the streamer.
The update also includes some changes to Fubo’s Team Channels feature, which allows customers who have recorded coverage of their favorite teams to stream team-based playlists of game highlights and news. With the upgrade, more filters will be available based on favorite leagues and key sports moments, and Fubo’s AI identifies moments from shows to create playlists of clips.
In addition, Team Channels content is becoming available on the Fubo home screen in a vertical video scroll. This feature is launching in the coming weeks and will also leverage Fubo AI models to zoom into the most critical areas of a full-screen video to optimize it for vertical viewing.
Personalized GFame Alerts from Fubo are being expanded to baseball fans, who will be able to receive push notifications about big plays and see a replay of those moments. Finally, Fubo’s AI will create news text alerts to send to subscribers that will allow recipients to click and start watching live coverage.
“At Fubo, we’ve already mastered the living room. Now, we’re conquering the on-the-go space,” Isaac Josephson, SVP at Fubo. “We recognize that sports fans and news junkies aren’t always at home. By leveraging our proprietary AI at scale, we’re transforming the Fubo mobile app from a simple streaming tool into a high-value, personalized, content engine. Fans rely on their smartphones for updates and quick hits, and Fubo is committed to delivering these high-stakes moments in addition to full live coverage.”
