Here's how to get YouTube TV's $20 credit if affected by a Disney channel blackout.

Unfortunately for subscribers of the live TV streaming service, there’s no good news to offer viewers regarding the carriage dispute between Disney and YouTube TV as of the time of this writing. Channels from ABC to National Geographic and everything in between are blacked out on YouTube TV, and with “Monday Night Football” coming up fast, today would be a very good day for the two to make a new agreement.

Until a deal is reached, however, there is some good news for YouTube TV customers. The streamer is offering a $20 credit off a customer’s next monthly bill as compensation for the continued absence of Disney’s channels. If you don’t relish the idea of wandering around your YouTube TV account trying to find the right section, we’ll help you locate and use the credit!

How to redeem a $20 credit off your next YouTube TV bill

  1. Click here to be taken to the Updates page on YouTube TV.
  2. Read the latest update under Disney Content.
  3. Click the Claim Credit button.
  4. Follow on-screen instructions.

If you are billed for a YouTube TV subscription through Google Play or a different provider, your credit will be applied to your account automatically. You can click here to confirm that the credit is being applied to YouTube TV.

There are signs that the carriage dispute may be about to end, though neither Disney nor YouTube TV has offered a public update on Monday. Some may well interpret the offering of a bill credit as a sign that no new deal is imminent, though YouTube TV promised to offer such a credit before the dispute began if Disney channels were gone for an extended period of time.

Ten days is apparently enough to qualify as an extended absence, and YouTube TV customers can get their bill credit applied to next month’s invoice by using the instructions above. For most, that will lower the price of YouTube TV from $83 per month to $63, but of course, that will vary based on any add-ons viewers have with their YouTube TV account.
