Can you disable push notifications from Disney+?

Can you disable push notifications from Disney+?

Some streaming apps have an internal setting for control over push notifications. What about Disney+?

Known for breaking major streaming stories, he’s covered everything from Netflix policy shifts to Peacock’s ad-tier changes. A sci-fi fan and Toshiba Fire TV user, he brings sharp analysis and a love for the genre to his reporting.
Here's how to disable push notifications on the Disney+ mobile app.

People seem to be of two minds about push notifications on their mobile phones. They’re either able to ignore these notifications entirely or believe that having even one superfluous app icon in the upper corner of the screen is an intolerable nuisance that must be dealt with as soon as possible.

All the top streaming services will send push notifications to a viewer’s phone nowadays, including Disney+. But if you find them a horrible nuisance — or would just rather not be dealing with them at the frequency with which the streamer sends them — we’ll tell you what you need to know about disabling them below.

What you need to know about mobile push notifications from Disney+

How to toggle notifications from Disney+ on or off

There’s a difference in how Disney+ handles push notifications as opposed to Netflix: Disney+ does not allow its customers to turn off push notifications via a setting in its mobile app for Android or iOS.

Instead, customers will have to navigate through their phone settings to disable push notifications from Disney+ on their mobile device. To do this on an iOS device, follow the instructions laid out below:

  1. Open the Settings menu (the grey gear-shaped icon).
  2. Tap Notifications.
  3. Scroll through your apps until you reach Disney+.
  4. Toggle Allow Notifications on or off.

On an Android device:

  1. Open the Settings menu on your phone or tablet.
  2. Tap Notifications.
  3. Locate Disney+ in your Apps list.
  4. Switch on or off.

On an Amazon Fire Tablet:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen, and then tap Settings.
  2. Open the Notifications & Quiet Time menu.
  3. Choose Disney+.
  4. Toggle Show in notification tray and Show as banner notification on/off.

Disney+ will automatically deliver notifications to your device unless you turn them off using the steps above.

What will Disney+ send notifications about?

Disney+ will send notifications about security updates to your account, new releases of shows and movies it thinks you will be interested in, and updates regarding titles you have saved aside.

Disney+

Disney+ is a video streaming service with over 13,000 series and films from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, The Muppets, and more. It is available in 61 countries and 21 languages. It is notable for its popular original series like “The Mandalorian,” “Ms. Marvel,” “Loki,” “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” and “Andor.”

Disney+ has several plans with or without ads. Disney+ Basic with Ads costs $11.99 / month. If you don’t want ads, you can choose Disney+ Premium with No Ads, which costs $19.99 / month.

The Premium plan also offers an annual option for $189.99 / year ($15.83/mo.).

If you’d like to add Hulu, you can bundle the two services as well, but Disney+ is also continuing to integrate the two, which will soon be an all-in-one offering.

Sports fans can also bundle ESPN Select or ESPN Unlimited, with or without ads.

Disney+ most recently raised prices on September 23, 2026 — the fourth time in as many years.

The app supports unlimited downloads (on their Premium Plans), four simultaneous streamers, up to 7 profiles, 4K streaming, and includes hundreds of avatars.

The service includes 25+ original series, 10+ original movies, 7,500 past episodes, 100 recent movies, and 400 library titles, including the entire Disney Vault.
