HBO Max has a library that would make any competing streamer envious. With HBO originals, DC movies and TV shows, and titles like the upcoming “Harry Potter” TV series calling HBO Max home, not to mention on-demand streams of titles from Warner Bros. Discovery-owned cable channels, and Warner Bros. movies.
But, as with every streaming service, you might occasionally be faced with having to update your account details on HBO Max. If you need to tweak your payment information, change your login details, or change any other account settings on HBO Max, we’ll let you know how to do it here.

How to change login credentials on HBO Max
If you need to change your username or password on HBO Max, the easiest way to do so is via the streaming service’s website. Find the profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen, and follow the instructions below:
- In the drop-down menu, click Account.
- Next to your email address or password, click the small pencil icon to edit.
- Verify your identity as the account owner if prompted.
- Change the login details in any way you choose.

How to change payment details on HBO Max
You can also change your payment method on HBO Max at any time you like from the streamer’s website. To do this, head to the HBO Max website and find your profile icon again. Then:
- Click Subscriptions in the drop-down menu.
- Scroll down to the Payments section.
- Click Payment Method to adjust.
You can also cancel your subscription or redeem a promotional code in this section of the HBO Max settings.
What other settings can you change on HBO Max?
Within the Settings menu, you can control your autoplay settings, tweak the appearance of your subtitle style, control emails from HBO Max and affiliates, manage your parental control code, and see information about your subscription.
In the Account menu, you can change login credentials using the steps listed above. You can also change the name of the account owner, update the location of your HBO Max household — which lets the streamer know where your home base for watching is supposed to be — and manage the devices that have permission to watch your HBO Max account.
