We explain how to make use of Hulu + Live TV's DVR feature.

It’s quite helpful that Hulu + Live TV includes the on-demand Hulu library with every plan; after all, that streamer is the streaming home of TV shows from a good number of linear channels, including ABC and Fox primetime series, FX titles, and more. Even so, the number of channels that come with a Hulu + Live TV would seem to require a DVR service in order to save all the TV shows and movies a user could want to watch.

Fortunately, Hulu + Live TV does indeed come with Cloud DVR. We’ll tell you more about how to use it, the restrictions that come along with it, and more in our expert-assembled guide below!

Everything you need to know about Hulu + Live TV’s Cloud DVR

How much storage does Hulu + Live TV Cloud DVR include?

Hulu + Live TV includes unlimited Cloud DVR storage with every paid plan. Viewers can record any number of programs from the channels in their Hulu + Live TV guide, though not all channels will be available to record with a subscription.

How to record TV shows and movies with Hulu + Live TV

To save a TV show or movie on Hulu + Live TV, go to the details page of that title and look for the record icon. Click it, and new live broadcasts will be recorded to your Cloud DVR.

You can also use the Live guide to record a TV show or movie; simply navigate to that title in the guide with your remote or cursor, and click the Record button. This will only record individual episodes, however, not an entire series.

Finally, if you’re using the Hulu website or mobile app, you can select the three-dot icon on a tile, then click Record from the drop-down menu that appears.

How to watch recordings on Hulu + Live TV

Viewers will find their recordings in the My Stuff tab on Hulu + Live TV, regardless of device. Simply navigate to My Stuff, then Recordings to see them; saved titles will appear in order of most recent first. Click the one you want to stream to start watching!

How to delete shows and movies from Hulu + Live TV

There are several methods of deleting a title from Hulu + Live TV’s Cloud DVR. On your TV screen, just go into My Stuff, then Recordings, and click Delete next to the title you want to remove.

On the web or an Android device, click the - icon next to the recorded titles you want to delete. On the streamer’s website, you can also click the down-arrow icon to view episodes you’ve saved and delete them one by one.

On iOS devices, go to the top-right corner and click the Edit button, then select the recordings you want to delete and click the trash can icon.

Hulu Live TV

Hulu Live TV is a live TV streaming service with more than 70 channels for $89.99 per month. Hulu + Live TV base plan includes local channels 32 of the top 35 cable channels, and regional sports networks (RSNs). Subscribers get free access to Disney+ and ESPN Select at no extra charge.

…

Where it really separates itself is value. Your subscription doesn’t just cover live TV — it also includes full access to Hulu’s on-demand library, plus bundled subscriptions to Disney+ and ESPN Select content at no extra cost. That means you’re getting everything from next-day network TV episodes and Hulu Originals, to Marvel, Star Wars, and live sports content all in one place without juggling multiple bills.

For sports fans, Hulu + Live TV also includes regional sports networks (RSNs) in select areas, a feature many competing services have dropped. That can be a big deal if you’re trying to follow local MLB, NBA, or NHL teams.

The DVR experience is another strong point. Subscribers get unlimited cloud DVR storage and the ability to fast-forward through commercials on recorded content — a feature that used to cost extra but is now standard. It’s designed to feel closer to a traditional cable DVR, just without the box.

If you want to customize further, several add-ons are available. You can upgrade to premium channels like HBO, Showtime, or Starz, add an unlimited streams option for households with lots of viewers, or go ad-free on Hulu’s on-demand content (live TV will still include ads).

Overall, Hulu + Live TV is less about being the cheapest option and more about being the most comprehensive. It’s built for people who want live TV, on-demand shows, and bundled streaming services all under one roof — without having to piece everything together themselves.
