About the 2024 National Christmas Tree Lighting
The 2024 National Christmas Tree Lighting took place on Dec. 5 on the Ellipse at The White House and President’s Park in Washington, DC. Only some had the chance to witness the lighting in person, and not everyone will be able to make it to see the tree before the holiday season comes to an end. To give viewers at home an opportunity to enjoy the festive occasion, a one-hour special hits CBS and Paramount+ on Friday. This year’s special event marks the 102nd National Christmas Tree Lighting after President Calvin Coolidge started the tradition in 1923.
Host Mickey Guyton will provide commentary and entertainment, but she’s also joined by several other big-name performers. Look forward to seeing Adam Blackstone, Stephen Sanchez, James Taylor, Muni Long, Trombone Shorty, The War And Treaty, and Trisha Yearwood take the stage during the event. Airmen of Note and Max Impact also perform.
Every year, the National Christmas Tree Lighting is presented by the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation.
