He’ll face Frances Tiafoe, who won his Quarterfinal match against No. 9 ranked Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria when he retired due to injury, handing Tiafoe the victory. Both Americans will look to become the first U.S. man to win the US Open since Andy Roddick in 2003.
On the other side of the bracket, Jack Draper cruised through his Quarterfinal against Alex Minaur in three sets, putting up 11 aces and six break-point conversions in the match. He won 84% of points on his first serve vs. de Minaur’s 67%. Draper will be up against the top male tennis player in the world in the Italian Jannik Sinner, who beat World No. 5 Daniil Medvedev in four sets. Sinner is the heavy favorite heading into Friday’s semifinal play.
