About ‘Civil War’
“Civil War” takes place in the near future, when the authoritarian President of the United States (Nick Offerman) has refused to relinquish control of the country after serving two terms. Various secessionist movements have arisen, and one of the most powerful — known as the Western Forces — is closing in on Washington, D.C. with intent to depose the president by force.
A group of journalists named Lee (Kirsten Dunst), Joel (Wagner Moura), Jessie (Cailee Spaeny), and Sammy (Stephen McKinley Henderson) try to make their way to Washington to document the historic events, but their journey is fraught with peril, as various heavily-armed paramilitary groups are roving the country, carving out their own spheres of influence.
