Georgia is expected to be included in the College Football Playoff rankings when the first edition of those rankings comes out.

The calendar still says November, but that means it’s time to start thinking about the College Football Playoffs in December! The 2024-25 season is the first time the CFP will expand to 12 teams, and viewers can watch the first of six rankings announcements on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. About First College Football Playoff Rankings Release

With 12 spots available in the College Football Playoff this year, the selection rules are a little different than in years past. The five highest-ranked conference champions will get automatic bids, and the seven highest-ranked teams after those champions will also make it into the dance. New rankings will be released every Tuesday until Sunday, Dec. 8.

The four highest-ranked conference champions will get the top four seeds in the Playoffs, earning themselves a first-round bye. The other eight teams will be seeded 5-12 based on their rankings, competing for quarterfinal slots. After the seeding is determined the Playoffs will follow a standard seeded tournament bracket.
