About ‘Forbidden Love’
Four different couples step into the spotlight on “Forbidden Love” and share their love stories with the world. One member of each relationship has chosen to convert to another religion or is in the process of leaving their family’s religion. Not only are their romantic relationships shaken up by these changes, but their parents and loved ones are in shock as they explore new religious beliefs and abandon the culture they were raised in. With religion being such a sensitive and personal topic, these conversations and questions could destroy marriages and other family relationships.
Throughout the premiere season of “Forbidden Love,” viewers will get to know Eli and Laurie. Eli is an Orthodox Jew, while Laurie comes from a Catholic background. As she struggles to convert, she questions whether she’s ready to give up her old lifestyle for Eli. Lindsey and Elmer also welcome viewers into their lives. After leaving the Amish community to marry Lindsey, Elmer is acquainted with his new lifestyle. Along the way, he and Lindsey both learn a lot about each other and face ups and downs. Their timeline to navigate their differences is especially tight with their baby on the way.
The third couple joining “Forbidden Love” Season 1 is Ashley and Mohammad. The pair is already married but come from different backgrounds with Ashley being raised Catholic and Mohammad being Muslim. Mohammad would like Ashley to convert, but Ashley and her family are unsure about this major commitment. Mohammad’s concern is their three-year-old daughter’s upbringing. Finally, fans will get to know Kris and Lensa. Kris was raised in a Pentecostal household and is the son of a pastor, while Lensa is a Muslim woman. They can’t decide which of their two religions to convert to, and both families are getting involved.
