‘Furious’ Season 2 is officially happening and here’s what to know
Alice’s final decision opens the door to an interesting second season with a bunch of unresolved storylines to follow.
I recently wrote about how “Furious” is the best show on streaming you might have missed. Well, turns out many of you didn’t miss it, because enough people showed up to get a Season 2 renewal before the finale even aired. Well done, folks! So, with the official Hulu renewal, here’s everything you need to know about “Furious” Season 2.
Everything you need to know about ‘Furious’ Season 2
When does ‘Furious’ Season 2 come out?
It’s early, early days for Season 2. But it’s officially in development, and I’d expect a late 2027 or early 2028 release date. No one’s mentioned a timeline yet, but given Season 1 got a second season order before the show even finished airing, I’m hoping it’s a priority for Hulu, and it lands sooner rather than later.
Can you watch ‘Furious’ Season 2 for free once it starts streaming?
Probably not because Hulu discontinued its 30-day free trial earlier this year. Still, my wife and I have had Hulu for years now, and we watch it all the time. Plans start at $12 per month for the ad-supported plan, and if you want to upgrade to ad-free, that’ll cost you $19 per month. We have the ad-supported plan, and to be totally honest, at points during the “Furious” season finale, the ads became aggressively frequent. I thought they threw off the cadence of the episode a bit. That’s the first time I’ve noticed being annoyed by ads, and while I don’t plan on making any changes, it’s something I’m going to keep an eye on.
Hulu
Hulu is a video streaming service that gives access to thousands of full seasons of exclusive series, hit movies, kids shows, and Hulu Originals like “Only Murders in the Building,” and “The Handmaid’s Tale.”
What is ‘Furious’ Season 2 about?
There are spoilers below for Season 1 of ‘Furious.’
That’s the question, isn’t it! Season 1 follows FBI agent Alice (Emmy Rossum) as she tracks down female serial killer Catherine (Lola Petticrew) in a game of cat and mouse. Except once you realize why Catherine is killing who she’s killing — men who’ve committed sex crimes against young women, including Catherine — you may just start rooting for her. And then you add in Alice’s own trauma, and the decision she makes at the end of Season 1 to kill the man who had sex with minors and who had a copy of a sex tape she’s in at the age of 14; plenty of doors open for where Season 2 could go. Did Alice really like killing Jay Easton (that smile at the end says yes)? Who recorded the tape of her at 14? And what will she do now that she sees her video has been downloaded 50,000 times on the dark web?
Either way, creator Elizabeth Meriwether has said that Season 2 could follow a similar format to the first season, with one season-long case (alongside Nora Washington, played wonderfully by Quincy Tyler Bernstine) involving sex offenders. Now, whether Alice will seek out those who have watched her tape in particular is up in the air. I’m also curious to see where Alice’s new relationship (is it a relationship?) with Danny (Scoot McNairy) lands. There was a real sweetness and safety to it that ran counter to the rest of the season that treated intimacy mostly as violent. But with Danny saying he’s retiring, I’m curious to see where that goes. There are plenty of storylines to pick up in Season 2, and I can’t wait to get answers.
Who stars in ‘Furious’ Season 2?
Emmy Rossum will certainly return, and I’d put money on Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Scoot McNairy, and Danny McCarthy, who plays Ed George, doing the same. Nora’s character has some pretty damning evidence against George, so it would make sense that we would get to see the storyline continued.
Lola Petticrew’s role is up in the air, as her character finishes Season 1 in jail (doing pretty well, it seems). Though, there could be a sort of dark mentorship between Alice and Catherine, with Catherine pushing Alice to the other side of the law (where she’s already set foot). Jake Lacy could also return as her ex-boyfriend, but it kind of felt like he got his send-off. I would love to see Steve Way back as Alden, but I think that’s more wishful thinking than anything.
Furious
