‘Hard Knocks’ is back for a truly historic season with the Seahawks
The acclaimed series is following the defending Super Bowl champions for just the second time in ‘Hard Knocks’ history.
Football is just around the corner, and that means one thing: “Hard Knocks” is back. One of the best documentary series in television history returns as “Hard Knocks: Training Camp With the Seattle Seahawks” premieres on Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max. This is the first time the Seahawks will be featured on the show in its 21 seasons. The five-episode run will be the first time since “Hard Knocks” launched in 2001 with the Baltimore Ravens that the series will document the defending Super Bowl champion. We recommend catching all of the behind-the-scenes drama of “Hard Knocks” with a subscription to HBO Max.

Why do we recommend HBO Max for watching ‘Hard Knocks: Training Camp With the Seattle Seahawks’?
HBO Max is the easiest and cheapest way to watch the show. “Hard Knocks: Training Camp With the Seattle Seahawks” airs on HBO, but I’ll be watching on HBO Max as the streamer is much cheaper than paying for a full cable subscription plus the premium channel add-on.
HBO Max currently has three plans. The Basic plan with ads is $11 per month, the Standard ad-free plan is $19 per month, and the Premium plan is $23 per month with 4K streaming and more devices. If you’re mostly signing up for Hard Knocks, this is an easy one-month or two-month subscription situation, depending on whether you want to watch weekly or wait until the full season is available.
Can you watch episodes of ‘Hard Knocks: Training Camp With the Seattle Seahawks’ for free?
Unfortunately, no. HBO Max doesn’t offer a free trial right now, so you’ll need a paid subscription to watch “Hard Knocks: Training Camp With the Seattle Seahawks” when it premieres.
The upside is that this is a limited series with only five episodes, so you’re not signing up for some endless season. You can subscribe, watch the full run, and cancel after the finale if you don’t plan on sticking around. If you do want to stick around, you can binge the other season of Hard Knocks. It’s a win-win.

What is ‘Hard Knocks: Training Camp With the Seattle Seahawks’ about?
For just the second time in the show’s history, “Hard Knocks” will follow the reigning Super Bowl champions as the Seattle Seahawks prepare to defend their title. The cameras will go behind the scenes with head coach Mike Macdonald as he tries to keep the team focused after reaching the NFL’s mountaintop, while stars such as quarterback Sam Darnold, Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Devon Witherspoon, and Byron Murphy II are expected to receive plenty of attention.
This is also the Seahawks’ first appearance on the long-running training-camp series, giving viewers an unusually close look at how a championship organization handles the expectations, pressure, and inevitable distractions that follow a Super Bowl victory.
Beyond the title-defense storyline, the season should spend plenty of time on the competition taking place deeper on the roster. Seattle is installing a revamped offense under new coordinator Brian Fleury, with increased involvement from its tight ends and fullbacks, while young quarterback Jalen Milroe is attempting to earn a larger role after spending much of his rookie season with the third team.
Position battles, contract discussions involving players such as Witherspoon, and the emotional process of cutting the roster down to 53 players should provide the personal drama that has traditionally made “Hard Knocks” more than just a football highlight show.
