About “Inside Out 2”
Directed by Kelsey Mann in his feature directorial debut, the follow-up sequel returns to the mind of Riley, now a teenager. Her personified emotions—Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger—have been successfully managing the operation, overseeing her newly formed “Sense of Self,” but when other emotions, including Anxiety and other complex emotions, the Original Five don’t know how to feel.
Reprising their roles from the first film are Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, and Lewis Black as Anger, plus Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan as Riley’s mother and father, respectively. New to the cast voicing Riley is Kensington Tallman, plus Maya Hawke as Anxiety, Tony Hale as Fear (replacing Bill Hader), Liza Lapira as Disgust (replacing Mindy Kaling), Ayo Edebiri as Envy, Adèle Exarchopoulos as Ennui, Paul Walter Hauser as Embarrassment, and others.
Following its June 14 theatrical release, “Inside Out 2” became the highest-grossing animated film of all time and the fastest animated film to reach $1 billion globally. The original “Inside Out” was consistently listed as one of 2015’s best films, earning the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
