Does Google TV have more free TV?
Yes! The Google TV Live tab also includes channels from apps such as Haystack News, Plex, Pluto TV, and Tubi. Like Google TV Freeplay channels, these channels are free to stream at all times, but to watch the channels themselves, you will have to install the apps they belong to. All of these apps are free and will never require a credit card to use.
How to watch free live TV on Google TV
To watch free live TV on Google TV, use the following instructions:
- Power up your Google TV set or streaming device.
- Navigate to the top of the screen.
- Click on the Live tab.
- Browse and filter channels as you desire.
Google TV makes it very easy to find and watch free channels, especially those from Google TV Freeplay. As noted above, you’ll see live channels from Tubi, Plex, and other streamers in the Google TV live guide as well, but you’ll have to have these apps installed to watch them.
Can you set free channels on Google TV as favorites?
Absolutely! Any channel in the Live tab or Google TV Freeplay app can be set as a favorite, making it even easier to surface the next time you want to watch on your Google TV device. To set a channel as your favorite:
- Turn on your Google TV device and go back to the live tab.
- In the channel guide, find the channel you want to favorite.
- Click the channel name, and wait for the star icon to show up.
Once you’ve chosen your favorite channels, you can find them in a Favorites list near the top of the screen to browse them even more easily.
What kind of free channels are available on Google TV?
Google TV aggregates 800+ free streaming channels from various providers, including those found in Google TV Freeplay. Channels include 24/7 playback of TV shows and movies, with many built around particular themes, studios, or even individual shows and franchises.
Selections also include national news channels, as well as local news from around the United States. Fans of unscripted TV such as cooking and instructional programming, true crime, and more will find plenty to watch on Google TV. The platform even includes Spanish-language content and some sports channels as well.
Can you watch broadcast or cable channels for free with Google TV?
Unfortunately, Google TV does not include the ability to watch local broadcast channels like ABC, CBS, Fox, or NBC, or cable channels for free. While FAST channels from these networks may be available on Google TV, local affiliates that appear on pay-TV plans or can be received via antenna are a distinct offering, and are not included with Google TV.
Likewise, Google TV does not offer any free access to cable channels. However, these channels can add live channels to their Google TV Live guide from Philo, Sling TV, or YouTube TV if they have subscriptions to those services.
