Check out Daniel Craig in Luca Guadagnino’s new film ‘Queer’
The latest film from the ‘Call Me by My Name’ director was a critical success last year.
In the new film “Queer,” Luca Guadagnino’s brings William S. Burroughs’ semi-autobiographical novel to life. Set in 1950s Mexico, the film stars Daniel Craig and immerses viewers in a world of longing, alienation, and the pursuit of connection. The film will be available to stream on Max beginning on Friday, March 28, and will air on HBO on Saturday, March 29 at 8 p.m. ET. I recommend watching the film with a subscription to Max.

Why do we recommend streaming ‘Queer’ on Max?
While the film is available to rent or buy digitally on various transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) hubs like Apple TV and Prime Video, and it will be available to stream on HBO on Saturday, the most cost-effective way to stream the movie is on Max.
With plans starting at just $10 per month, you will not only be able to stream the Daniel Craig-led film cheaper this way, but you will be able to watch it whenever you want (as long as Warner Bros. Discovery decides to keep the film on the platform), while also enjoying tons of other prestige films and TV series.
HBO Max
HBO Max is a subscription video streaming service that gives access to the full HBO library and exclusive Max Originals. There are hubs for content from TLC, HGTV, Food Network, Discovery, TCM, Cartoon Network, Travel Channel, ID, and more. Watch hit series like “The Last of Us,” “House of the Dragon,” “Succession,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and more. Within HBO Max, B/R Sports allows users to watch live NBA, MLB, NHL, March Madness, and NASCAR events.
Can you watch ‘Queer’ for free?
Unfortunately, Max does not offer a free trial. So, if you want to stream the film on WBD’s flagship streaming service, then you will have to subscribe to one of their plans.
However, currently, DIRECTV STREAM is including HBO at no additional cost for a limited time on all of its channel packages. And since the live streamer comes with a five-day free trial, you would be able to stream the film for free. However, just make sure that you cancel the plan before those five days run out if you don’t want to have to pay for the full complement of channels.

What is ‘Queer’ about?
In the film, Daniel Craig plays William, an American living in Mexico City in 1950. Other than occasional interactions with other Americans living abroad, he spends most of his time completely alone. That is until he meets Eugene Allerton, an expat former soldier who has just moved to the city. Eugene — played by Drew Starkey — shows William that it is actually possible to establish meaningful, human connections with another human being.
In addition to Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey, the film features performances by Lesley Manville, Jason Schwartzman, Henrique Zaga, and Omar Apollo.
What related titles can you watch on Max?
In addition to Queer, Max has a number of other Guadagnino projects available to stream. You can watch his big breakout film “Call Me by Your Name” and the 2009 movie “I Am Love,” as well as 2020 TV series “We Are Who We Are” on the platform.
In addition, there are other films and series that might interest you, including “Disobedience,” “Looking,” “Am I OK?”, and more.
