Will Season 4 be the final season of ‘The Bear’?

There has been a lot of conjecture about what the endgame for “The Bear” will be following last year’s third season. For many reasons — everything from storytelling to the growing status of the show’s stars — some fans have had a feeling that Carmy and crew will take their order to go following Season 4. However, last week, when FX and Hulu released the trailer (which you can watch below), there was no mention of this being the final season of the show, which would almost certainly have been included in marketing material were that to be the case.

However, “The Bear” has never been shy about surprising audiences, so it is possible that the season finale will end up being the series finale. Given that the show’s three stars — Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach — have become incredibly in-demand Hollywood staples in the past three years, it would be understandable that they didn’t have the bandwidth to shoot another 10-episode season, despite the speed with which “The Bear” has always turned about episodes.

Season 4 of the show was primarily filmed on the back of Season 3, early in 2024. So, if the series is going to return for a fifth season, it could potentially wait until early 2026 to begin production, getting the show back on the filming schedule that it employed for Seasons 1-3. This would also give the stars two years to coordinate their schedules to ensure they had time to make it work.

There is also the possibility that “The Bear” will continue in another form; whether that is with a non-annual release schedule (potentially releasing new episodes every 18 to 30 months instead of every summer) or by perhaps becoming its own quasi-spin off and having the secondary characters (perhaps Abby Elliott’s Sugar, Lionel Boyce’s Marcus, Liza Colón-Zayas’ Tina, and Matty Matheson’s Neil Fak) taking on more of a lead role in the series moving forward.

Regardless of what the future holds for “The Bear,” at this time there is no indication that Season 4 will be its final run of episodes.

What will happen in Season 4 of ‘The Bear’?

The battle to survive takes another step in Season 4 of “The Bear.” Money is running out, and with it, the time to continue trying to make the restaurant a success. The team has to adapt and overcome, but has Carmy learned a lesson about taking some of the stress out of the kitchen? He and the rest of The Bear crew have to decide what matters most to them, and how they can share their gifts and passions without losing too much of themselves along the way.

Who will star in Season 4 of ‘The Bear’?

Most of the principal cast of “The Bear” is returning for Season 4, including Jeremy Allen White as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, Ayo Edebiri as Sydney Adamu, Ebon-Moss Bachrach as Richard “Richie” Jerimovich, Lionel Boyce as Marcus Brooks, Liza Colón-Zayas as Tina Marrero, Abby Elliot as Natalie “Sugar” Berzatto, Matty Matheson as Neil Fak, Oliver Platt as Jimmy “Cicero” Kalinowski, and Jamie Lee Curtis as Donna Berzatto.

What happened in Season 3 of ‘The Bear’?

In Season 3 of “The Bear,” Carmy and crew have opened The Bear, the fine dining restaurant they have been working so hard to bring to life. Carmy’s temper and insistence on his list of so-called non-negotiables cause tensions to rise, particularly with sous-chef Sydney and maître d’hôtel Richie.

As the staff tries their hardest to make The Bear a success, an impending review by The Chicago Tribune ratchets up the pressure even further. Sydney is reluctant to sign her ownership agreement with The Bear, and her situation is further complicated when she is offered another job. Carmy’s sister Natalie gives birth and reconciles with her mother Donna.
