Amanda Knox reclaims her story in this new scripted series
With Knox onboard as executive producer, this one aims to set the record straight.
True crime stories are always having a moment, and this one is especially wild. “The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox” dives into the infamous case of Amanda Knox, who was wrongfully convicted of her roommate’s murder back in 2007. Grace Van Patten plays Knox in this limited series that’s less about the crime itself and more about what happens when scandal, media obsession, and a broken justice system collide. And the fact that Knox herself is an executive producer? Yeah, that makes it even more worth watching. The series premieres Wednesday, Aug. 20, with two episodes, then drops weekly on Hulu.

About ‘The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox’
“The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox” tells the story of Amanda Knox, a college student who was wrongfully convicted of murdering her roommate while studying abroad in Italy. What makes this one stand out is that it’s told from Knox’s perspective — not the media circus version we all remember. The series follows her 16-year fight to clear her name, from the botched investigation to her time in prison to finally reclaiming her own story. It’s a true crime drama, yes, but also a sharp look at how fast the truth can get buried when scandal takes over.

Is ‘The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox’ based on a true story?
Yep, “The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox” is based on a true story. She spent almost four years behind bars before being cleared, and now, she’s helping tell the story as an executive producer. The show takes some dramatic license, but it’s rooted in what really happened and shows just how hard it was for her to fight her way back.
