Head back to Hope Valley in Season 12 of ‘When Calls the Heart’
One of TV’s most beloved and heart-warming shows returns for its 12th season.
One of the most beloved and heartwarming shows on television returns on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 9 p.m. ET as Hallmark Channel’s ‘When Calls the Heart” premieres its 12th season. The show is set in the rural Canadian town of Hope Valley and follows schoolteacher Elizabeth Thatcher through the dramatic, and often romantic, twists and turns of the town’s citizens. In addition to the Hallmark Channel, you can stream the show on-demand on Hallmark+ and Peacock, but if you want to watch each episode as it is released, I recommend a seven-day free trial to Frndly TV.

Season 12 of “When Calls the Heart” will air new episodes of its 12-episode season every Sunday night on Hallmark Channel. Fortunately, that means that there are a lot of options for how you can stream the show, as seven live TV streaming services carry the channel.

If you are specifically looking for a live TV streamer that allows you to watch new episodes of “When Calls the Heart” as they initially air, then there is no better option than Frndly TV. Not only does the service offer a seven-day free trial, but it also is by far the cheapest option of its kind to watch the show. With plans starting at just $8 per month, Frndly is even cheaper than the on-demand options I will mention in a later section.
Admittedly, with plans running from $8 to $12 months, Frndly doesn’t have nearly the full complement of cable or broadcast networks that the other platforms on this list do, but that is what allows it to offer such inexpensive subscription options. The channels that Frndly does offer are family entertainment-focused, so you know that there will be plenty of other warm and familiar titles to stream on the service.
Frndly TV
Frndly TV is a budget-friendly live TV streaming service in the United States that focuses on family-friendly and lifestyle programming. Launched in 2019, the service offers a curated lineup of channels that includes Hallmark Channel, UPtv, Lifetime, MeTV, INSP, The Weather Channel, Game Show Network, and dozens more. It’s designed for viewers who want wholesome content without the’ high cost or complexity of larger streaming bundles.
Can you stream ‘When Calls the Heart’ Season 12 for free?
While there is currently no legal way to stream the entire season of “When Calls the Heart” for free, there are multiple options to watch the season premiere at no cost. In addition to Frndly TV’s seven-day free trial, DIRECTV STREAM, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo, Philo, and YouTube TV all offer free trials of varying lengths. However, along with Frndly, Philo’s seven-day free trial is going to be your best option. But even on the off chance that you can get a two-week free trial, that still won’t be enough to watch the entire 12th season of “When Calls the Heart.” So, the fact that Frndly is by far the cheapest option to stream the Hallmark Channel helps tremendously.
What other streaming services can you use to stream ‘When Calls the Heart’ Season 12?
If you aren’t worried about watching each new episode as it is released, then there are a few more streaming options that you should consider. Hallmark’s recently rebranded streaming service Hallmark+ is the ideal option in this situation, because not only will new episodes be available after they initially air on the linear channel, but the streamer also carries all 11 previous seasons, so you can watch (or rewatch) the entire story of Hope Valley (even before it was called Hope Valley) from the beginning.
The other similar option comes from the NBCUniversal streaming service Peacock. Every new episode of the season will be available to stream the day after it airs on Hallmark Channel. Unfortunately, unlike on Hallmark+, you won’t be able to binge the series from the start on Peacock, as the platform only hosts the last four seasons.
Hallmark+
Hallmark+ is a cable-free subscription service that offers thousands of hours of Hallmark’s signature feel-good programming in the form of movies and ongoing series. Nearly all media found on the service is exclusive to the Hallmark brand, created either specifically for Hallmark+, or pulled from another source such as Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Mystery, or Hallmark Family. The service can be added as a channel to Prime Video.
About ‘When Calls the Heart’ Season 12
As Season 12 opens, the widowed, single mother school teacher Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow) is finally set to explore her long-simmering romance with Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry), who came to town as the adopted parent of his niece Allie. After years of false starts and will-they, won’t-they suspense, the couple will finally explore their romantic possibilities following the passionate kiss shared at the end of Season 11.
Joining the cast of “When Calls the Heart” for a special two-episode arc is “The Little House on the Prairie” star Melissa Gilbert. The former president of the Screen Actors Guild will play Georgie McGill, a woman who “shares a surprising past with one special Hope Valley resident.”
In addition to Krakow and McGarry, the series welcomes back fan favorites Pascale Hutton, Jack Wagner, Chris McNally, Kavan Smith, Viv Leacock, Andrea Brooks, and more.
