‘Dragon Ball,’ other popular anime titles leaving Hulu
Hulu is losing some big name shows from Toei Animation, and we’ll let you know where to stream them now.
With all the streaming services available nowadays, it’s a wonder that shows and movies don’t disappear from a given service more often. That’s a small comfort to subscribers who see their favorites suddenly gone from their libraries; however, anime fans on Hulu are now discovering how fast a show can be pulled. As of Feb. 1, Hulu lost several seasons of top anime titles like “Dragon Ball,” “Digimon Adventure,” and “One Piece.” We’ll let you know where you can find the removed titles below!
Key Details:
- Seasons or entire series of eight shows have been pulled from Hulu.
- Crunchyroll and Netflix are good alternatives for streaming these titles.
- Hulu still has a wide selection of anime shows available.
Hulu has pulled several shows out of its catalog entirely, and others have seen multiple seasons disappear. As of now, the full list of anime shows removed from Hulu on Feb. 1 incudes:
- “Digimon Adventure”
- “Digimon Adventure 02”
- “Digimon Tamers”
- “Digimon Frontier”
- “Dragon Ball”
- “Dragon Ball GT”
- “Dragon Ball Super”
- “One Piece” Seasons 1,3,5,6,7, and 9
No official reason for the removal of these titles was given, but it’s very likely that Hulu’s licensing deals to keep them simply expired without renewal. In any case, fans will have to find alternative ways to stream the removed titles, and we’ll lay out the best methods for doing so in the table below.
| Title removed from Hulu | Best place to stream now | Price |
|---|---|---|
| “Digimon Adventure” | Amazon | $2 per episode, or $17 per season |
| “Digimon Adventure 02” | Amazon | $4 to rent, or $10 to buy |
| “Digimon Tamers” | Not available currently | N/A |
| “Digimon Frontier” | Not available currently | N/A |
| “Dragon Ball” | Crunchyroll | $8 per month+ |
| “Dragon Ball GT” | Crunchyroll | $8 per month+ |
| “Dragon Ball Super” | Crunchyroll | $8 per month+ |
| “One Piece” Seasons 1,3,5,6,7, and 9 | Netflix | $8 per month+ |
Hulu still has a great selection of anime titles in its library, including the reboot of “Digimon Adventure:,” “Dragon Ball Z Kai,” and more. If you’re looking for the titles listed above on the streamer, however, you’ll now have to seek elsewhere.
