Is A24’s Latest Movie ‘Civil War’ Streaming Now? When Will it Arrive on Max?

A24’s latest movie will likely force everyone who sees it to take a moment for self-reflection. “Civil War” is the studio’s latest release, an action movie that will compel some Americans to step back and evaluate the state of the nation when it officially debuts in theaters on Friday, April 12.

The film has received quite a bit of praise from critics and currently sports an 83% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film’s action sequences have been singled out for praise, as has its willingness to lean into the unsettling subject matter and its frank portrayal of an uncertain people in a time of conflict.

When Will ‘Civil War’ Be Available to Stream?
Before December 2023, it was hard to pin down where A24 movies would stream first once after leaving theaters, as well as their period of exclusivity on digital rental and purchase platforms like Prime Video, Redbox, and the Apple TV store. But in December, A24 agreed to an exclusive Pay 1 deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, sending both past and future releases to stream on Max.
That answers the question of which platform will allow viewers to watch “Civil War” as part of their subscription. Recent A24 releases show a distinct pattern in regard to their streaming release schedule, and it won’t be an encouraging one for fans who are hoping to stream “Civil War” at home in 45 to 70 days.
“The Zone of Interest,” “Dream Scenario” and “Priscilla” are three A24 films that have arrived on Max within the last couple of months. All were released in fall/early winter 2023, and each movie spent between 105 and 127 days in theaters and on premium video-on-demand platforms before being released to stream on Max.
With that data in mind, The Streamable predicts “Civil War” will land on Max on Thursday, Aug. 15. That’s 125 days from its initial release and will give audiences plenty of food for thought as they consider the upcoming U.S. presidential election.
