When will Mark Wahlberg’s new movie ‘Flight Risk’ be streaming?
The explosive action movie hits cinemas on Friday, but it could be a while before it streams.
Mark Wahlberg and Mel Gibson might not be the powerhouse names they once were, but the two can still create some cinematic juice. Gibson is directing Wahlberg in the new action flick “Flight Risk,” which arrives in theaters on Friday, Jan. 24. When will it hit a streaming service near you? We’ll take a look at that question and give our expert opinion below!
Key Details:
- Reviews suggest that “Flight Risk” is the type of movie worth waiting for streaming.
- Lionsgate is distributing the film, which means it will arrive on STARZ first.
- A new distribution deal between Lionsgate and STARZ could shorten the wait.

“Flight Risk” stars Wahlberg as a seemingly innocent pilot of a small plane. When the U.S. Marshals enlist him to help them transport a witness to trial, however, it is revealed that he is actually an assassin attempting to snuff out the life of the informant (Topher Grace). However, he and Deputy Marshal Madelyn Harris are forced to work together when it becomes clear others are gunning for them as well.
Reviews for “Flight Risk” suggest it’s definitely the type of movie worth waiting to stream at home. It’s got a 24% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes thus far, and even early audience reviews are saying you’re probably better off waiting for the movie to come to streaming as opposed to fighting crowds at the theater.
When will ‘Flight Risk’ stream at home?
It’s simple enough to say where “Flight Risk” will stream once it’s available with a subscription. Since Lionsgate is distributing the movie, it will debut on the STARZ streaming service first, likely around the same time it’s available to watch on the Starz cable channel.
When will that be? It’s harder to say than ever, unfortunately. Lionsgate movies typically take between 140 and 180 days to reach STARZ after hitting theaters, as was the case for recent release “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” That movie’s theatrical window will be over 140 days when it hits STARZ in March, and fellow 2024 release “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” spent 152 days in cinemas before streaming.
On the other hand, STARZ and Lionsgaterecently reached a new output deal, which specifically calls for Lionsgate movies to arrive on STARZ more quickly than they have in the past. Will “Flight Risk” be the first movie on the slate to use that accelerated schedule?
For now, I’ll predict that “Flight Risk” will stick with the longer window, and will arrive on STARZ 140 days after its initial release. That would bring it to STARZ on Friday, June 13, but if it shows up there sooner, it will be an indication that the terms of the new output deal between STARZ and Lionsgate are in effect already.
