LIV Golf to broadcast matches across Fox platforms in 2025
The new partnership will see LIV events air Fox, FS1, FS2, and other outlets.
LIV Golf has a new broadcast home. The alternative golf league, which has drawn controversy because of its financial backing from the Saudi Public Investment Fund, has agreed to a new media rights deal with Fox. The agreement will run for multiple years, and LIV Golf events will air across Fox linear platforms and stream in various places.
Key Details:
- LIV tournaments will air on Fox, FS1, and FS2, as well as stream on the Fox Sports App and LIV Golf+.
- Coverage begins with the beginning of the 2025 LIV season in February.
- The CW formerly held the rights to offer LIV Golf events.
According to the press release announcing the new deal, Fox platforms will air coverage of LIV tournaments across their standard three-day events. Almost all of the 210 total hours of LIV play during the 2025 season will be offered live across Fox outlets.
“We are thrilled to partner with FOX Sports, one of the preeminent broadcast networks in the world,” LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil said. “LIV Golf is getting bigger and bolder, and this relationship signals the next phase of growth as our League joins the company of the nation’s premier sports leagues and conferences. I want to thank the FOX Sports team who share our vision for the future of golf, a new model that is redefining how the sport is experienced. LIV Golf is drawing a younger, more active and tech-savvy fan base, and as our players and teams prepare for LIV Golf’s biggest season yet, this agreement will take our broadcast to new heights.”
More than half of the schedule will air on Fox and FS1, and select rounds will also air on FS2, Fox Sports 2, and [Fox Business]. Some rounds will also be played exclusively on the Fox Sports App, but subscribers to a pay-TV plan with TV Everywhere credentials can stream all of the action on Fox Sports or use the [LIV Golf +] app.
“FOX Sports is excited to broadcast the LIV Golf League, showcasing athletes at the top of their game competing at an elite level for viewers across the nation,” Fox Sports EVP Jordan Bazant said. “The addition of LIV Golf is a natural fit for FOX Sports’ prominent slate of big events, world-class names and premium sports coverage.”
LIV Golf’s initial TV deal was with The CW, which was inked in 2023. The golf league found an audience on that channel, but it was augmented greatly by the decision to begin airing first rounds of tournaments for free on YouTube last year.
Following the 2024 season, word began to circulate that a move to Fox could be imminent, and that has now come to pass. Viewers will begin seeing LIV Golf tournaments on Fox platforms when the league begins play in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Feb. 6.
LIV Golf Plus
LIV Golf Plus is the streaming service for the controversial golf league owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund. The app provides live video coverage for every 2023 event, as well as highlights from prior tournaments. On launch day, at least, we could not fast-forward or rewind while watching tournament replays.
