Live-action ‘Snow White’ to premiere on Disney+ in June
Live-action ‘Snow White’ to premiere on Disney+ in June
Disney’s newest adaptation of one of its most beloved animated titles is available in theaters now.
UPDATE: Disney has officially announced that its live-action remake of “Snow White” will premiere on the company’s flagship streaming service Disney+ on Wednesday, June 11. That would put it at 82 days following its theatrical premiere and about two weeks short of where The Streamable’s experts predicted that it would land. Undoubtedly, the film’s meager showing at the box office impacted its arrival on streaming.
To date, the film has only brought in $87,202,614 domestically and just over $205 internationally. Due to these underwhelming numbers, it did not remain in theaters as long as either Disney or we anticipated. Therefore, instead of the Friday, June 27 date that we had initially predicted (you can read about how we got to that date below), it will premiere 16 days earlier.

Hi-ho, hi-ho, it’s off to the theater we go! The live-action adaptation of “Snow White” is now available in cinemas, having been officially released on Friday, March 21. The movie is the latest in the series of live-action remakes of Disney favorites, but when will you be able to stream it from the comforts of home?
Key Details:
- Critics are enthusiastic about at least some facets of “Snow White.”
- The film is being distributed by Disney, and thus will stream on Disney+.
- A theatrical window of around 100 days is the most likely scenario.

“Snow White” tells the legendary story of a young woman destined to become the most beautiful in the land. But when she attracts the attention of a jealous queen, she is forced to flee into the forest, where she meets seven dwarfs who are quite unused to having a princess in their midst!
While the movie currently sports a 46% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, critics are nearly unanimous in their praise of its star Rachel Zegler. With all of the controversy surrounding the film, it’s probably best that you don’t rely on outside opinions, and see the movie to make up your own mind!
When will the live-action ‘Snow White’ stream on Disney+?
It’s patently simple to say which streaming service will get “Snow White” once it’s available to stream at home. As with its animated counterpart, the movie will be available on Disney+ once it’s no longer a theatrical exclusive.
How long will that take? Looking at other recent Disney properties that have been adapted to live-action films might help answer the question. “The Little Mermaid” and “Mufasa: The Lion King” each took around 100 days to reach streaming; “The Little Mermaid” had a theatrical window of 103 days, and “Mufasa” premieres on Disney+ on March 26, 96 days after coming out in theaters.
I see no reason to think “Snow White” will take considerably more or less time to reach Disney+. Therefore, I predict it will come out on the streamer on Friday, June 27, 98 days after its official theatrical debut.
