Just wrapped ‘The Chair Company’? Here’s what you should watch next

If you loved the show’s weird spiral, these next picks keep the energy going.

With a background in film and branded content, he covers sports and entertainment with sharp insight and creativity. A longtime Oilers fan, he’s still holding out hope for a Stanley Cup run.
if you loved "The Chair Company" here's the dark comedies to watch next.

If you just wrapped “The Chair Company” you’re probably still thinking about that broken chair… and the wild spiral that followed. It’s got that very specific Tim Robinson energy that makes you laugh even while you’re cringing. And it’s a tough tone to match, which leaves you wondering what could possibly fill this hole now that Season 1 is over. But fear not cause there are a few shows (a few even from the same kind of creators) that tap into the same dark, cringe comedy lane. Here’s what to watch next if you loved “The Chair Company.”

The Chair Company

October 12, 2025

After an embarrassing incident at work, suburban family man William Ronald Trosper finds himself investigating a far-reaching conspiracy.

Loved ‘The Chair Company’? Watch: ‘The Curse’

“The Curse” is an insane show. Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie built a show that’s half satire and half slow-motion meltdown. Emma Stone and Fielder play a couple trying to film an HGTV-style home renovation series while pretending to be perfect people, and it all starts falling apart after a very weird “curse” moment.

The humor is awkward and sometimes painful, but that’s what makes it work. If you loved the way “The Chair Company” could make you laugh and gasp in the same scene, “The Curse” gives you that same emotional whiplash. It’s more somber, sure, but the overlap is strong. People pretending they’re fine. People unraveling. People are getting in deeper because they refuse to let go of their own bad choices. And the ending is one of the weirdest, most outrageous, yet kind of perfect endings to a TV show I have ever seen. I was floored.

The Curse

November 12, 2023

An alleged curse disturbs the relationship of a newly married couple as they try to conceive a child while co-starring on their problematic new HGTV show.

Try out: ‘The Lowdown’

“The Lowdown” is a modern noir with a comic streak that hits fast. Ethan Hawke plays a messy, overzealous “citizen journalist” digging into a suspicious death in Tulsa. It’s a legit mystery with political tension, dangerous people, and a ton of personality.

The vibe is gritty but still funny. Hawke’s character crashes funerals, sneaks around mansions, and keeps ending up in situations where the danger is real, but the awkwardness is just as memorable. It feels like a more grounded cousin to “The Chair Company.” You still get the obsessive hero chasing clues, the feeling that things are spiraling, and the moments where a serious scene flips into something a little ridiculous. If you liked the conspiracy angle in “Chair Co.,” this one pulls you right in.

The Lowdown

September 23, 2025

Follow the gritty exploits of citizen journalist Lee Raybon, a self-proclaimed Tulsa “truthstorian” whose obsession with the truth is always getting him into trouble.

Watch next: ‘The Rehearsal’

“The Rehearsal” is Nathan Fielder doing what only he does. It’s technically reality, but it plays like a surreal art project about anxiety and control. Fielder helps real people “rehearse” their lives by building huge, elaborate simulations of everyday situations, and the whole thing slowly swallows him up.

The show can be hilarious, but it’s also deeply uncomfortable in a way “The Chair Company” fans will understand right away. Both shows explore people spiraling because they can’t handle uncertainty. Both turn small moments into huge, existential problems. And both leave you thinking, “Wow… I shouldn’t be laughing at this, but I am.” If you want a weirder, more introspective version of that same energy, this is the perfect pick.

The Rehearsal

July 15, 2022

With a construction crew, a legion of actors, and seemingly unlimited resources, Nathan Fielder allows ordinary people to prepare for life’s biggest moments by “rehearsing” them in carefully crafted simulations of his own design. When a single misstep could shatter your entire world, why leave life to chance?

Obvious pick: ‘I Think You Should Leave’

Here’s the purest hit of Tim Robinson energy you can get. “I Think You Should Leave” is a sketch series filled with tiny moments of social awkwardness that explode into total chaos. Every sketch is short, unhinged, and deeply quotable.

It’s not a thriller. There’s no mystery. But the DNA is exactly the same as “The Chair Company.” People who can’t admit they’re wrong. People are digging themselves deeper. People are melting down over the smallest things. If you want the comedic flavor of Chair Co. without the slow-burn plot, this show is basically the best you can do.

I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson

April 23, 2019

There is no such thing as an ordinary interaction in this offbeat sketch comedy series that features a deep roster of guest stars.
