What should I watch after MobLand?

“MobLand” just wrapped up its wild Season 1 run on Paramount+ — with the finale dropping Sunday, June 1 — and it ended in pure chaos (in the best way). Between car bombs, double-crosses, and some major family fallout, the Harrigans left us with a lot to process. And while a second season is all but confirmed, we’ve still got a wait ahead. So what now? If you’re craving more brutal power plays, dysfunctional crime families, and fixers who live in the grey, you’re in luck. There’s a whole lineup of epic crime dramas ready to fill the “MobLand”-sized grave it just left behind — including a few that are streaming on the exact same platform you just binged from. Here are four shows worth queuing up.

MobLand

Two mob families clash in a war that threatens to topple empires and lives.

Loved ‘MobLand’? Watch: ‘Tulsa King’

If “MobLand” pulled you in with all the crime family drama and backroom deals, “Tulsa King” brings that same vibe — just with a bit more swagger. Sylvester Stallone plays a mob capo who gets out of prison and gets sent to Tulsa to start over. He’s running things old-school in a totally new world, building a crew from scratch and trying to stay one step ahead of everyone. And yeah — he’s a total fish out of water. The world’s moved on, and nothing works the way it used to.

That’s one reason why, unlike “MobLand,” which leans dark and serious, “Tulsa King” has a little more fun with it. There’s still crime and chaos, but Stallone brings this cool, laid-back energy that makes every scene pop. And he’s perfect in the role: funny, sharp, and still totally intimidating. It’s not as bleak, but if you liked the power plays and family loyalty stuff in “MobLand,” this one’s a great follow-up.

New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi is released from prison after 25 years and exiled by his boss to set up shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Realizing that his mob family may not have his best interests in mind, Dwight slowly builds a crew.

Check out ‘Mayor of Kingstown’

Ever been to a town that runs on inmates? “Mayor of Kingstown” brings that to life. Jeremy Renner plays a guy stuck in the middle of corruption, violence, and backdoor deals… basically the unofficial boss of a town that runs on prison money and broken systems. Like “MobLand,” this one’s got family drama, shady alliances, and a fixer who’s constantly putting out fires before everything explodes.

The big difference? “Mayor of Kingstown” trades London’s organized crime scene for a Rust Belt town drowning in institutional failure. There’s no flashy crime family here. Instead, it’s cops, criminals, and politicians all tangled up in survival. It’s less about legacy and more about barely hanging on. But the vibe is just as intense, and if you liked the brutal choices Harry Da Souza had to make, Mike McLusky’s world won’t feel far off.

In a small Michigan town where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry, the McClusky family are the power brokers between the police, criminals, inmates, prison guards and politicians in a city completely dependent on prisons and the prisoners they contain.

Don’t miss ‘Godfather of Harlem’

If you were hooked on the crime family power plays in “MobLand,” then “Godfather of Harlem” is a must-watch. Forest Whitaker plays Bumpy Johnson, a Harlem crime boss trying to take back control of his neighborhood in the 1960s. Like “MobLand,” it’s got turf wars, betrayals, and a lead character who knows how to survive — even when the odds are stacked against him.

What sets “Godfather of Harlem” apart is its backdrop because it blends real history with organized crime in a way that adds a whole other layer. You’ve got civil rights movements, Malcolm X, and political unrest all woven into the story. While “MobLand” is modern and tight-knit around one family, this one’s bigger in scope and taps into something more political. But if you’re here for sharp suits, calculated moves, and brutal consequences, this delivers all that and more.

Godfather of Harlem

September 29, 2019

Loosely based on infamous crime boss Bumpy Johnson, who in the early 1960s returned from ten years in prison to find the neighborhood he once ruled in shambles. With the streets controlled by the Italian mob, Bumpy attempts to regain his piece of Harlem.

Try out ‘Ray Donovan’

While this one’s a little ways down the list, it may actually be the best fit for “MobLand” fans — if only because “MobLand” started out as a planned British spinoff of “Ray Donovan.” It was originally titled “The Donovans” before it evolved into its own show, which explains why the tone and structure feel so familiar. Both series center on a tough, emotionally shut-off fixer who’s neck-deep in criminal dealings and barely keeping his personal life from falling apart.

That said, “Ray Donovan” is set in L.A., not London, and leans more into Hollywood corruption than organized crime turf wars. But the vibe is still intense and moody, with the same slow-burn tension, messy family dynamics, and brutal decisions happening behind closed doors. If what you liked about “MobLand” was less the crime family politics and more the inner life of a man caught between loyalty and survival, “Ray Donovan” is right on target.

Ray Donovan

June 30, 2013

Set in the sprawling mecca of the rich and famous, Ray Donovan does the dirty work for LA’s top power players, and makes their problems disappear. His father’s unexpected release from prison sets off a chain of events that shakes the Donovan family to its core.

Wildcard pick: ‘Landman’

This one might seem like a curveball, but hear me out — “Landman” taps into a lot of the same energy as “MobLand.” It’s another gritty, character-driven drama on Paramount+, and this time the chaos comes from the oil industry instead of organized crime. Billy Bob Thornton plays a crisis manager in West Texas, trying to keep wildcatters, billionaires, and ruthless land deals from blowing up in his face. Like Harry in “MobLand,” he’s a fixer stuck cleaning up other people’s messes — and making a few of his own.

What makes “Landman” different is the world it lives in. There are no mob families or turf wars here, just a brutal, profit-hungry system where power shifts fast and nobody plays clean. It’s less violent but just as intense, with high-stakes deals replacing gunfights and corporate betrayal taking the place of mob hits. If you’re into morally messy characters and backroom deals in a pressure-cooker setting, give “Landman” a whirl.

Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West-Texas and a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs, the series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires that are fueling a boom so big it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.
