Finished ‘Young Sherlock’? Watch these shows next
Prime Video’s new Sherlock origin story is an easy binge, so here are a few smart mystery shows worth lining up next.
It’s hard to blame you for burning through all eight episodes of “Young Sherlock” on Prime Video. The show drops you into 1870s Oxford with a teenage Sherlock Holmes just starting to figure out who he is, and the whole thing moves fast. There are conspiracies, fistfights, clever deductions, and a surprisingly emotional backstory for Sherlock as he deals with family tragedy.
Plus, with the style, chaos, slick visuals, and big action beats Guy Ritchie is known for, this show delivers. And since all the eps dropped at once, it’s incredibly easy to binge the whole thing in a weekend. The downside? Once you’re done, you’re done. Elementary, my dear Watson… there are plenty of other shows that deliver more great mysteries, bold detective characters, and that same Victorian adventure vibe. Here’s what to watch next if you loved “Young Sherlock.”
Young Sherlock
Sherlock Holmes is a disgraced young man, raw and unfiltered, when he finds himself wrapped up in a murder case that threatens his liberty. His first ever case unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy that changes his life forever.
Loved ‘Young Sherlock’? Watch ‘Sherlock’

If what hooked you in “Young Sherlock” was the thrill of watching a brilliant detective piece together clues faster than everyone else in the room, then “Sherlock” is the obvious next stop. This BBC series stars Benedict Cumberbatch as a modern-day Sherlock Holmes solving baffling crimes in London alongside Martin Freeman’s Watson. The show is famous for its slick visual style and the way it shows Sherlock’s thought process on screen, turning his deductions into something that feels almost like an action sequence. It’s witty, fast-paced, and packed with clever twists that keep every episode moving.
The biggest difference is the setting. “Sherlock” jumps the story into the 21st century, so instead of horse-drawn carriages and Victorian streets, you’ve got smartphones, GPS, and digital clues. But the core appeal is exactly the same. Sherlock is still a genius who can’t help showing off, Watson is still the loyal partner trying to keep up, and the cases are full of surprises. If you enjoyed the energy and style of “Young Sherlock,” this show scratches that same itch in a modern setting.
Sherlock
A modern update finds the famous sleuth and his doctor partner solving crime in 21st century London.
Check out: ‘The Irregulars’

One of the most fun things about “Young Sherlock” is seeing the Sherlock Holmes universe from a younger, more rebellious perspective. That’s exactly the territory of “The Irregulars.” This Netflix series follows a group of teenage street kids in Victorian London who end up solving strange crimes while working under the watch of Dr. Watson. The whole show has a similar vibe to “Young Sherlock” with foggy streets, dramatic mysteries, and a cast of young characters trying to survive in a world that’s way bigger and darker than they expected.
The twist is that “The Irregulars” leans harder into supernatural territory. Some of the cases involve ghosts, strange creatures, and eerie forces lurking in the shadows of London. That gives it a slightly darker tone than “Young Sherlock,” but the adventurous energy is still there. If you liked the mix of youthful characters, period atmosphere, and Sherlock Holmes mythology, this one is definitely worth checking out.
The Irregulars
In Victorian London, a gang of troubled street teens are manipulated into solving crimes for the sinister Doctor Watson and his mysterious business partner, the elusive Sherlock Holmes. As the crimes take on a horrifying supernatural edge and a dark power emerges, it’ll be up to the Irregulars to come together to save not only London but the entire world.
Watch next: ‘Elementary’

Another great Holmes-inspired show to jump into after “Young Sherlock” is “Elementary.” This series moves the story to modern-day New York City and puts Jonny Lee Miller in the role of Sherlock Holmes, with Lucy Liu playing Dr. Joan Watson. The two form an unlikely partnership while solving complex crimes around the city, and the show really leans into the idea that Holmes is brilliant but also deeply flawed.
What makes “Elementary” so compelling is how much it focuses on the characters. Sherlock is dealing with addiction and trying to rebuild his life, while Watson slowly evolves from his sober companion into a full detective partner. The mysteries are smart and satisfying, but the real hook is watching the relationship between the two leads grow over time. If you enjoyed the emotional side of “Young Sherlock” alongside the detective work, this one has plenty of that.
Elementary
A modern-day drama about a crime-solving duo that cracks the NYPD’s most impossible cases. Following his fall from grace in London and a stint in rehab, eccentric Sherlock escapes to Manhattan where his wealthy father forces him to live with his worst nightmare - a sober companion, Dr. Watson.

Wildcard pick: ‘Miss Scarlet and The Duke’

Okay, this one has a slightly different energy, but if you loved the Victorian setting of “Young Sherlock,” then “Miss Scarlet and The Duke” is a really fun next watch. The show follows Eliza Scarlet, a fiercely independent woman who decides to become a private detective in Victorian London after her father dies. That alone is a big deal because the job is basically reserved for men at the time, so Eliza spends a lot of the series proving she’s smarter than everyone who doubts her.
Where the show really shines is the chemistry between Eliza and Inspector William Wellington, also known as the Duke. He’s a traditional Scotland Yard detective who often ends up reluctantly helping Eliza with her cases, even though she drives him a little crazy. The tone is lighter and more playful than “Young Sherlock,” but the mysteries are clever and the period setting is great. If you’re in the mood for more Victorian sleuthing with a sharp lead character, this one totally delivers.
Miss Scarlet
When Eliza Scarlet’s father dies, he leaves her penniless, but she resolves to continue his detective agency. To operate in a male-dominated world, though, she needs a partner… step forward a detective known as the Duke. Eliza and The Duke strike up a mismatched, fiery relationship as they team up to solve crime in the murkiest depths of 1880’s London.
