Major League Cricket Announces Free Match Broadcasts, New Regional Sports Network Partners

The American cricket league is expanding coverage after the Men’s T20 National team’s victory at the ICC World Cup.

Major League Cricket now has several new broadcasting partners for the 2024 season.

Your favorite regional sports network (RSN) may be about to add more cricket. This week, Major League Cricket and its normal broadcasting partner Willow TV announced that several matches from many MLC teams will be available on local RSNs in their respective markets this year, expanding the audience of the sport at a moment when its popularity is seeing a surge in the United States.

Key Details:

  • YES Network in New York and two Bally Sports RSNs are among the channels that will begin offering MLC matches this summer.
  • Three free matches will be played on Sling Freestream and other platforms on Sundays this month.
  • Monumental Sports Network was the first RSN to partner with MLC.
Willow TV is responsible for offering the most cricket in the United States.

There are currently six teams playing in Major League Cricket, a T20 cricket league established in the United States in 2023. Five of those teams have now partnered with RSNs to distribute a selection of games between now and the end of the season. The San Francisco Unicorns are the only squad without an RSN partner for the year, but all of that team’s matches will air on Willow TV.

Cricket is enjoying a moment of enhanced popularity in the United States thanks to the triumph of the Men’s T20 national team against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup in June. Many of the same players are found on Major League Cricket teams, and now hometown fans will be able to see them in action more easily.

Willow will also present three MLC matches on various platforms for free over the course of July. The free offerings start this weekend, and viewers can stream them on willow.tv, cricbuzz.com, or on the Willow or Cricbuzz apps. Sling Freestream and Fubo will also provide coverage of these free matches.

Each of these free offerings will be played at 8:30 p.m. ET. The schedule of free matches includes:

  • Sunday, July 7: Los Angeles Knight Riders vs. San Francisco Unicorns
  • Sunday, July 14: MI New York vs. Texas Super Kings
  • Sunday, July 21: MI New York vs. Los Angeles Knight Riders

“Riding the momentum from the USA’s unforgettable T20 World Cup run, Major League Cricket is poised for a spectacular future,” Willow by Cricbuzz COO Todd Myers said. “Our partnerships with regional sports networks provide fans unprecedented access to watch their favorite World Cup players on local teams, critically weaving the sport into the fabric of local communities. The addition of free Sunday night viewings also broadens access, energizing a vibrant and rising fan community eager to support their hometown heroes. This is the beginning of a new chapter in North American cricket, with boundless growth potential.”

Monumental Sports Network was the first RSN to announce it was adding some MLC matches in late June. The cheapest way to watch all MLC matches is with a subscription to Sling TV, which starts at $20 per month for a viewer’s first month and offers Willow TV in add-on packs starting at just $10 extra.
