When will ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ stream?
The new trailer for the movie is available now, but when will it come out on Disney+?
It’s been a while since a Star Wars movie served as a summer tentpole for Disney, but that’s set to change in 2026. The company released a new trailer for “The Mandalorian and Grogu” on Tuesday, which will arrive in theaters on May 22. Fans can see the new trailer below, and dive into our prediction of when the movie will be available to stream on Disney+.
Key Details:
- Get a sneak peek: The new trailer for ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ has arrived.
- No guessing needed: Jedi powers are unnecessary to know that the film will stream on Disney+.
- Not until Christmas?: Disney could well decide not to allow the movie to stream until the holidays.

“The Mandalorian and Grogu” will see the titular bounty hunter Din Djarin and his young, green ward travel the galaxy, seeking out the worst scum and villainy they can find to bring them to justice. The two aid the New Republic in its efforts to root out the last Imperial warlords threatening the galaxy following the collapse of the Empire.
The film is a continuation of the highly successful Disney+ series “The Mandalorian,” which first debuted in 2019 and helped vault Disney+ to success when it was a brand-new platform. “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” debuted in cinemas on Dec. 20, 2019, marking the last time a Star Wars movie was released in theaters.

When will ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ stream on Disney+?
Disney is still the overseer of the Star Wars franchise, which means one hardly needs a strong connection to the Force to determine where “The Mandalorian and Grogu” will be available once it’s ready to stream on demand. Disney+ will host the movie, alongside all seasons of “The Mandalorian” and other Star Wars titles.
Unlike “The Mandalorian,” however, “The Mandalorian and Grogu” will not be a straight-to-streaming experience. The movie will premiere exclusively in theaters on May 22, and will likely get quite a long run in cinemas before moving to streaming. Disney’s last major franchise summer tentpole “Deadpool and Wolverine” took approximately 110 days to arrive on Disney+ after premiering in theaters, and I can easily see “The Mandalorian and Grogu” surpassing that total.
Ultimately, I predict that “The Mandalorian and Grogu” will maintain a theatrical window of between 120 and 150 days, which would keep it in cinemas sometime between late September and late October. There’s a universe where the film is such a smashing success that it doesn’t see streaming until closer to the holidays, so keep checking back with The Streamable for the latest updates about the film.
