Max Goes Full ‘Barbie’ With Special Homepage, New Profile Avatars, Extra Content to Celebrate Film’s Streaming Release
‘Barbie’ is officially available to stream on Max, and the streamer wants to take full advantage of the occasion.
There’s no denying “Barbie” was the cinematic sensation of 2023. The film took in $1.44 billion in global box office receipts, and to celebrate its streaming release on Max on Friday, Dec. 15, the platform is undergoing a “Barbie” takeover complete with ultra-pink menus, character avatars, and much more.
- Max is releasing a series of new profile avatars to celebrate the release of “Barbie.”
- The entire Max user interface has seen a “Barbie”-style makeover for the movie’s Dec. 15 release.
- Bonus features, music videos, and an American Sign Language interpretation of the film are also available on Max.
How is Max Celebrating the Release of ‘Barbie’?
“Barbie” is not only the highest-grossing movie of 2023, it’s the highest-grossing global release in the history of Warner Bros. Discovery. Given that information, it’s hardly surprising that the movie is getting such a warm welcome for its Dec. 15 release on Max.
The streamer has released a new batch of profile avatars from the movie, from Barbie and Ken to Allan and Gloria. If you’ve got a favorite character from the movie that you particularly identify with, you can now express your fandom fully on your Max profile!
The entire Max interface has gotten a “Barbie” makeover on compatible devices, with a pink-and-white theme and special content collections. Users can hover their cursor over interactive icons like lipstick or high-heeled shoes, then click the icon to be shown a hidden title from curated, themed title selections from collections like “Every Night is Girls Night,” “I am Kenough” and more.
How to Stream ‘Barbie’ ASL Interpretation
One of the most impressive aspects of the “Barbie” streaming release is the creation of an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreted version of the movie. ASL performer Leila Hanaumi was brought on to make this version of “Barbie,” and users will find it right up front on the Max homepage.
In addition to an ASL interpretation of the movie, there are several featurettes and other pieces of bonus content surrounding “Barbie” to enjoy on Max. These include:
- Becoming Barbie: See how Margot Robbie and the incredible “Barbie” crew crafted an iconic look for the leading role.
