The new “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” channel will launch on YouTube on June 4. Five full-length episodes will debut on the channel on that day, including the first-ever “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” from 1968.
A new full-length episode will arrive on the channel each week, and it will maintain a rotation of 10 full-length episodes to watch at any given time. In addition, the “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” channel will offer monthly compilations and livestreams, shorts, and clips. As the channel’s creative director, Kristin DiQuollo, says, the launch is all about spreading Rogers’ timeless messages of self-love and using one’s imagination.
“We hope this channel will become a place where families can slow down together,” DiQuollo said. “We’re thoughtfully curating playlists and compilations around classic segments like the Neighborhood of Make-Believe and factory visits. We’ll also have rarely seen full episodes, livestreams of special theme weeks, visits with beloved neighbors, and lots of playful and musical moments. Most of all, we hope the channel will help remind everyone how unique and special they each are.”
In the coming months, the channel will also add exclusive content, including archival footage and behind-the-scenes looks into the making of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” that have rarely been seen before. Although the last episode of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” was released 25 years ago, the show remains every bit as relevant to this day.
“With its timeless messages of care and kindness, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood is as relevant now as when it first aired. We’re excited to make the series more available for families and fans with this official YouTube destination,” Fred Rogers Productions executive Ellen Doherty said. “We think parents will connect with the authenticity of Fred Rogers’ messages. He was someone who really understood the big feelings and big questions of children—and of their grown-ups.”
