The data on most anticipated titles comes from Whip Media. Whip measures anticipation by tracking the number of users who “follow” titles ahead of premieres on Whip’s TV Time app — a tracking tool that allows viewers to keep ahead of shows and movies they want to stream the most.
Whip has broken down its data into two categories: most-anticipated returning TV shows and most-anticipated new premieres. The shows on each list will debut throughout the month of May, so viewers will have plenty to watch as the weeks go by.
The futuristic dark comedy series “Murderbot” heads up the list of most anticipated new shows coming to TV this month. The Apple TV+ series is based on “The Murderbot Diaries” book series, and stars Alexander Skarsgård as a security android who has become self-aware and wants to learn more about its place in the universe while hiding the fact that it is conscious.
Leading the list of most anticipated returning shows is the new season of “Nine Perfect Strangers,” which stars Nicole Kidman as a self-help guru who leads nine well-to-do strangers to a wellness resort. Once there, the group must confront their deepest secrets and dark pasts, and the only guarantee is that all of them will leave as different people.
