About American Gangster

American Gangster, directed by Ridley Scott, presents a fictionalized account inspired by the life of Frank Lucas, a North Carolina gangster who established a lucrative heroin operation. Lucas bypassed traditional Mafia channels by smuggling heroin directly from Southeast Asia into the United States using American military planes during the Vietnam War. His ascent draws the attention of Detective Richie Roberts, a dedicated but ostracized cop in Newark, New Jersey. Roberts assembles a task force determined to bring Lucas to justice, leading to a cat-and-mouse game that exposes corruption and challenges the established power structures of both the criminal underworld and law enforcement.
