About Compliance

In a small Ohio town, on an ordinary day at a fast-food restaurant, Sandra, the manager, receives a phone call claiming to be from a police officer. The caller accuses one of her young employees, Becky, of theft. As Sandra tries to cooperate with the supposed officer, the situation escalates, leading to a series of increasingly disturbing and humiliating acts. The film examines the power of suggestion, authority, and the ease with which ordinary people can be manipulated into doing the unthinkable. The question that lingers is, at what point do we question authority, and what are the consequences of our compliance?

Cast and Characters

Directed by Craig Zobel, Compliance features a stellar cast. Ann Dowd delivers a gripping performance as Sandra, the restaurant manager struggling to navigate the increasingly bizarre demands. Dreama Walker portrays Becky, the young employee caught in the crosshairs of the disturbing situation. Pat Healy is chilling as the voice on the phone, the manipulative caller orchestrating the events. Bill Camp appears as Sandra's fianc, offering a contrasting voice of reason. Philip Ettinger plays Kevin, another employee, while James McCaffrey takes on the role of Officer Neals, adding another layer of complexity to the unfolding events.

What people like about Compliance

Ann Dowd's performance was lauded as particularly outstanding, capturing the inner turmoil of a woman caught in an impossible situation. Others highlighted the film's unsettling realism and its ability to provoke thought about the nature of authority and obedience.

How to stream with ExpressVPN

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is an app that encrypts your internet connection and masks your IP address, allowing you to stream securely and bypass restrictions.

Why Use a VPN for Streaming?

- Bypass Geo-Restrictions: Many streaming services are geographically restricted. If you’re traveling outside the U.S., a VPN can make it appear as if you’re still in the country, giving you access to your subscriptions.
- Avoid ISP Throttling: Your internet provider might slow down your connection during high-bandwidth activities like streaming. A VPN encrypts your activity, preventing your ISP from throttling your speeds and ensuring a smooth, buffer-free experience.
- Increase Privacy: A VPN protects your data on non-secure public Wi-Fi networks by creating an encrypted tunnel, safeguarding your personal information while you stream.

How to get started with ExpressVPN:

- Sign Up: Purchase an ExpressVPN subscription.
- Download: Install the ExpressVPN app on your device.
- Connect: Open the app and connect to a server in the U.S.
- Stream: Log in to your streaming service and enjoy watching your favorite shows securely!
