In a near-future Japan, a canine flu outbreak leads the corrupt Mayor Kobayashi to exile all dogs to Trash Island, a desolate wasteland. Atari Kobayashi, a courageous 12-year-old boy, steals a plane and flies to the island in search of his loyal companion, Spots. There, he teams up with a pack of misfit dogs, led by the gruff but ultimately kind Chief, and together they embark on a perilous journey across the island, battling hunger, disease, and the Mayor's relentless forces, all while forging an unbreakable bond of friendship and loyalty.
