About The Butcher

In a quiet provincial French town, an unlikely friendship blossoms between Popaul, a laconic, working-class butcher haunted by his past, and Hlne, a poised and reserved schoolteacher. Their budding connection is overshadowed by a series of gruesome murders resembling those of Jack the Ripper, casting suspicion and unease over the community. As the body count rises, the film explores themes of repressed desire, societal paranoia, and the hidden darkness lurking beneath the veneer of respectability, leading to a suspenseful and ambiguous climax.

Cast and Characters

Directed by Claude Chabrol, The Butcher features a stellar cast led by Stphane Audran as Hlne, the schoolteacher wrestling with inner turmoil, and Jean Yanne as Popaul, the butcher with a mysterious past. Roger Rudel plays the role of the police inspector, Antonio Passalia appears as a local villager, Mario Beccara also appears as a local villager. William Gurault is also featured, adding depth to the film's ensemble.

How to stream with ExpressVPN

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is an app that encrypts your internet connection and masks your IP address, allowing you to stream securely and bypass restrictions.

Why Use a VPN for Streaming?

- Bypass Geo-Restrictions: Many streaming services are geographically restricted. If you’re traveling outside the U.S., a VPN can make it appear as if you’re still in the country, giving you access to your subscriptions.
- Avoid ISP Throttling: Your internet provider might slow down your connection during high-bandwidth activities like streaming. A VPN encrypts your activity, preventing your ISP from throttling your speeds and ensuring a smooth, buffer-free experience.
- Increase Privacy: A VPN protects your data on non-secure public Wi-Fi networks by creating an encrypted tunnel, safeguarding your personal information while you stream.

How to get started with ExpressVPN:

- Sign Up: Purchase an ExpressVPN subscription.
