Cast and Characters

Directed by Alain Resnais, Night and Fog features a cast whose involvement, while not directly in dramatic roles, is essential to the film's impact. Michel Bouquet provides the narration, guiding the audience through the harrowing landscape of the camps. Archival footage includes appearances of key figures from the Nazi regime, such as Reinhard Heydrich, a high-ranking Nazi official and one of the main architects of the Holocaust; Heinrich Himmler, the head of the SS and a key figure in the implementation of the Final Solution; Adolf Hitler, the leader of Nazi Germany; and Julius Streicher, the publisher of the antisemitic newspaper Der Strmer, whose propaganda fueled hatred and violence. These figures, through the historical record, become chilling participants in Resnais's devastating account.

What people like about Night and Fog
