About Portrait of a Lady on Fire

On a remote island in 18th-century Brittany, Marianne, a talented painter, is commissioned to secretly capture the likeness of Hlose, a young woman resisting her impending marriage. As Marianne observes Hlose by day and paints her portrait in secrecy by night, an unexpected intimacy blossoms between them. Their connection deepens, fueled by shared moments of intellectual exchange and growing affection. The portrait becomes a catalyst for a forbidden love, as both women find themselves drawn to each other in ways they never anticipated. Time is running out, the portrait must be done and Marianne must leave, but the bond created will remain in their memories forever.
