Cast and Characters

Directed by Natalie Erika James, Relic features a stellar cast, led by Emily Mortimer as Kay, the concerned daughter returning home. Bella Heathcote delivers a compelling performance as Sam, Kay's daughter, caught between loyalty and fear. Robyn Nevin shines as Edna, the elderly matriarch battling a mysterious affliction. Supporting roles are played by Chris Bunton, Steve Rodgers, and Catherine Glavicic, each adding depth to the unsettling family dynamic. Mortimer's portrayal captures the agonizing helplessness of watching a parent succumb to dementia, while Heathcote embodies the generational anxieties of facing one's own mortality. Nevin's performance is particularly haunting, conveying both vulnerability and a growing sense of menace.

What people like about Relic

Critics have lauded Relic for its atmospheric tension, exceptional performances, and profound exploration of grief and dementia. Many praised the film's ability to blend horror elements with a deeply moving family drama, creating a truly unique and unsettling cinematic experience. Viewers particularly appreciated the slow-burn approach, which allows the suspense to build gradually, culminating in a powerful and emotionally resonant climax. The film's focus on character development and nuanced performances were also frequently highlighted, distinguishing it from more conventional horror films. The metaphorical use of the decaying house as a representation of Edna's deteriorating mind was widely praised for its symbolic depth and visual impact.

How to stream with ExpressVPN

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is an app that encrypts your internet connection and masks your IP address, allowing you to stream securely and bypass restrictions.

Why Use a VPN for Streaming?

- Bypass Geo-Restrictions: Many streaming services are geographically restricted. If you’re traveling outside the U.S., a VPN can make it appear as if you’re still in the country, giving you access to your subscriptions.
- Avoid ISP Throttling: Your internet provider might slow down your connection during high-bandwidth activities like streaming. A VPN encrypts your activity, preventing your ISP from throttling your speeds and ensuring a smooth, buffer-free experience.
- Increase Privacy: A VPN protects your data on non-secure public Wi-Fi networks by creating an encrypted tunnel, safeguarding your personal information while you stream.

How to get started with ExpressVPN:

- Sign Up: Purchase an ExpressVPN subscription.
